I have a great idea for a story that I got from a video I saw. It involved a sister seeing her brother in his bed looking at a porn magazine, wearing underwear and a shirt. He had taken Viagra earlier for a hot date with his girlfriend, and they broke up, so he had a large problem he couldn't resolve. She came in because she knew he was supposed to be out on a date and it was still early. He told her about the problem when she quizzed him and he told her how he was trying unsuccessfully to fix the problem, and asked her to help him.

Most incest videos or stories don't work well because there is no reason for the bro/sis to get together. In real life, it's a pretty rare thing, I'm sure. I thought this was a great way and reason for them to come together.

So, I wrote the opening scene very close to the video; she coming in and sitting on his bed, talking, discovering the porn, getting the "problem" described by him, and even a part where he agrees not to look when she agrees to give him a hand job. But the rest is expanded and even involves her calling in a friend to help when she is exhausted.

I do not want to steal the story exactly as I know that is plagiarism. I sure wouldn't want anyone to steal one of my stories or ideas if they are original. But, every idea comes from our reading watching, hearing, seeing, and there is very little that is truly 100% original. We even have many categories her because so many stories are so similar in that they have the same general ideas in mind, like, incest, cuckold, bdsm, interracial, etc.

So, at what point does it become plagiarism? How much detail am I allowed to put in? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks, HH

You can't copyright ideas (you can trademark them if you are making money off them, but this is rarely done).

If you use exact wording and scene setting of a previous written work, you could be plagiarizing, though. You really should use what you saw as inspiration and write a takeoff it. You're not even being creative otherwise.

Thanks

Of course, I can't see the play script for the video, so I couldn't copy it, nor would I try to remember the scene word for word. However, I think my problem is that I liked the setting and setup to the sex too much, because it was just right in my mind. Although I DID change and add my own details and script, I couldn't find a good way to change that beginning; with the guy on the bed, sister coming in and sitting there, and the no looking parts. Does it sound like that would be too alike to leave that way?

PS, I Lovethe SR-71 and have seen and touched one in person. Love all the intrigue and capabilities of it, i.e. leaky fuel, titanium from Russia, Mach 3+, High altitude, long range, etc.
