(good luck with That!)

The United Kingdom is often held up as a successful example of gun control by those on the left. But a recent poll by the Daily Telegraph, one of England’s most widely-read publications, shows Britons themselves are far from sold on the laws.

In a poll asking readers what laws they would like to see introduced or changed, an overwhelming number of voters chose “repeal the ban on hand guns and re-open shooting clubs.”

“After all, why should only criminals be ‘allowed’ to possess guns and shoot unarmed, defenceless citizens and police officers?” reader Colliemum wrote.

Here is a screen shot of the results, as of TheBlaze article’s publication:

What a load if tosh!
Have you ever read the Daily Telegraph?
If you do so , it will give you an idea of the demographic. It is hardly representative of GB.
Did you read how the poll was conducted?
A relatively small (compared to GB population) sample of people were asked to express their preference on which of several private members bills they would vote for, and it turns out that this sample is less interested in things like having more green areas or changing terms if office .
Hardly a referendum on a specific topic.
Also, do you mean Engkand? Or GB? Or UK ?

A load of twaddle!!

Why would ANYONE need a gun in the UK?

To be fair, that poll doesn't say that most Brits are in favor of changing gun laws. It's just a list of issues that the readers of that paper would like to see introduced or changed. The title of the linked article is misleading.

Yeah, armed citizens too should be allowed to shoot unarmed, defenseless citizens and police officers! Why should criminals have all the fun?!

to be fair, they were G/god awful with the guns they had.

Actually (to be fair, of course), at that time they had the best military the world had yet seen. Everybody feared them, and rightly so.

During Napoleonic times, the Brits were known for their economic power more than their military might.

heh. I've already exhausted my knowledge of eighteenth/nineteenth century British military lore. I know when to cut and run.

until someone figured out to shoot at them from behind a tree.

It's amazing that it took so long. As soon as I saw them lining up to shoot a volley, I'd have been heading into the woods to find the biggest tree around.

But a recent poll by the Daily Telegraph, one of England’s most widely-read publications . . .

And Fox News is one of America's most widely-watched networks. That does not mean it is to be taken seriously.

If guns were more readily available in the UK the cleaver would be a Glock or S&W and as someone who knows a little bit about automatic weapons (I teach young soldiers to handle weapons) it is much easier to escape a nutter with a meat cleaver than a nutter with an AK47

And the British people vote for politicians who ensure that 1 nut case cant' go on a shooting spree and kill innocent kids in school as happened in Dunblane in 1996 and Hungerford in 1987. Making it hard for everyone to access weapons makes it hard for the criminals as well (cleaver as opposed to AK again)

I hate to criticise the US as I loved the place when I was at Uni there but if you even had to undertake training and testing as you have to do before you sit behind the wheel of a car (a far less offensive weapon) then maybe you would not have as many the problems with your gun wielding nutters. But each to his own.

PS if I had had a weapon in my hand I would have slotted both of the guys in drummer Lee Rigby's murderer's.
