A wider public preview of Literotica's new mobile friendly design is in progress now.

We have opened the new Literotica Tags Portal up to everyone:
https://literotica.com/tags/

Please click over and have a look!

The Tags Portal BETA features many of the design elements that are expected to be adopted site wide over the coming months, including:

1. Universal header and footer
2. Responsive mobile friendly design
3. New story listing blocks with add-to-list bookmarking functionality

We need help testing and improving these elements so that they are ready when we roll out the new design to the full Lit readership.

Please have a look and let us know if you find any problems or have suggestions for improving the new design.

What we would appreciate as far as testing goes:
1) Use the Tags Portal as you normally do.
2) Report any bugs or browser issues you find.
3) Report anything that works less efficiently than the existing Tags Portal.
4) Share any suggestions you have for improving the new interface.
5) Let us know if you notice any speed/performance issues with the Tags Portal.

Please report bugs, issues, suggestions, and comments via one of the following:
1) by posting them directly in this forum thread.
2) by email to: info [at] literotica.com
3) by sending a Private Message to Laurel

Thank you! :D:D

New is nice. I like the look of the updated menus, they're modernized and pleasant to look at, and a bit more user intuitive. I'd like to see more dropdowns (but not too many more) rather than everything on Explore.

More than anything though, I REALLY don't like the color scheme, namely in how I can barely see the different in the shades of blue that aren't dark. It's pretty much just like looking at a light bulb, and it makes it rather unpleasant when reading stories. Having something that would cut the harshness of the constant white glare would be much easier on the eyes.

Kudos on the collection of info in a concise box, perhaps make it smaller? Seems there's wasted real estate on the right side of the story boxes (where the bookmark icon, subject tag, and publish date are) that the other icons (Hot story, ratings, comments, etc) could go as well. Perhaps just move the author to the right justified and the icons up one line break.

I just had a look and it looks nice, but what about other languages? I mainly publish in Dutch, but I can't seem to find my stories in the new design.

Does this mean Lit will be english only in the future or isn't it implemented yet?

Or am just blind and looked over it :p

Ok found it, it is hidden.

Well first thoughts.

Non english is a category on itself? why? as far as I can see language should be the first filter, I'm ok if it defaults to english, but the language menu should be more visible, more at the top of the page and it should not be a category also (in the right pane i mean)

It would be nice if there were "forced tags" at publishing, so you won't have multiple tags meaning the same. It should be possible to add custom tags, but to prevent a wild grow of tags this could help.

What about reader adding tags, preferably only forced tags to prevent jokers adding "shitty story" or something.

This reader tags should be weighed, so if 10 readers add the "romantic story" and one reader adds "taboo" the romantic story tags should prevail

Also it would be nice if I could later alter the tags to story's I have published. Even more when readers are enabled to add tags (so I can remove tags that don't seem suitable)

Will this tags page be the main navigation or will there be more pages, more like how it is now? I do like the old setup with a list of new stories by category without having to filter, more so because my previous points, there are many doubles (daughter, father/daughter, father - daughter, daughter- father). I understand it is almost impossible to alter tags on existing stories to conform them to the most used tags but it would be nice if it would be possible (maybe the forced tags by readers could help a bit)

also a point is that in my case I have some stories that could be in multiple categories, like BDSM, Taboo, love story. How about enabling this?

Oh and one more point, or issue, not really realted, but then again it is :D

I publish both in english and dutch, when people click on my profile they just see a list of all my stories, how about grouping them by language?

I understand that for most authors it would mean all their stories will be in one group, their language, but for some it could be very nice, like in my case.

New tags/new look

I'm really liking how this looks. I have a HUGE list on my computer of stories I want to read and another that I'm waiting for story updates. This looks like a much better way to keep track. My problem is I've been deleting them from my list once I've read them and then find myself adding them again. I've read so many that I can't keep track of which ones I've read and haven't read. Thanks for making it easier with this new system. The only thing better was if you were allowed to use multiple icons instead of just one. ;-)

Thanks for the feedback! With the new system, in addition to the default "Read Later" list, you could create custom reading lists to save stories you've already ready or do whatever else you want to do with custom lists.

As far as the comment that you'd like to see "multiple icons", what does that refer to on the page?

Thank you again. :D

The Tags Portal already exists on Literotica, this is just a new interface. The old version is here:
https://tags.literotica.com/

Many Lit readers are already using the Tags Portal every day as it allows them to dig down much deeper than just a Category.

As far as Reader Submitted Tags, we have long had that on our list, but we aren't sure how often readers would actually submit anything, so it's not currently at the top of our list. As you suggested, there would need to be some sort of system to moderate those tags to prevent abuse.

Language is handled separately from tags. Generally users browse the site in the language that they want to read stories in. So, if they are on german.literotica.com, we show them German language stories. We could think about how that could be better implemented in the future, but it is not part of the current upgrades. The language system should keep working the same way it always has. If you think that should be improved, we are definitely open to suggestions.

You should be able to edit tags on your existing stories in the same way that you would edit Title, Description, Category, etc. In the future, editing existing stories will become much easier, but that will be after we get the new system rolled out.

As far as multiple categories, we do not have plans to implement that anytime soon. Tags offer another similar way to add context to your story so that readers can find it. We are always open to suggestions, so it's possible that the current category or tags system could change in the future if enough Lit members wanted it changed.

Thank you again for the feedback. :D

searching stroy names with apostrophies

I don't know if this should go here or not, but for a long time I've noticed that if you use the search function for a title with an apostrophe, it won't show up. This bug excludes various results from the search results, making it harder to find certain stories. It seems like a small thing, but there are many stories with apostrophes that are potentially being buried.

Hey

First of all, this looks like a great update. Great work people! I only have but one concern. The page doesn't work with ********** turned off. This wouldn't be a problem in any normal browser but I (and I assume great many other visitores of this site) use Tor to access it. And Tor's default is to disable **********. And I tend to agree with it.

Maybe you can figure something out, but I realize it's a big ask, esp in today's always updating browser world.

I meant java script there (JS, the web browser's programing language [in case it's censored again]).

Thanks for the comments! :D

Our intention from the start has been that the new interface will work without JS for most non-logged in features. We can't support some logged in features (especially in the Control Panel) without JS, but you should be able to read/browse the site without JS. You're right that the non-JS fallbacks don't seem to be fully working in the Tags Portal BETA right now, but we have prototypes that do work. I'll try to figure out what happened there as I'm sure it was working in a recent release. It should be back to working before this goes beyond BETA.

If you're around the site in the coming days and weeks, hopefully you can re-test the JS issues and make sure that they work for you.

Thanks again! :D

Feedback: timeouts

Seems OK however, there is one very restrictive issue. It must be corrected to continue evaluation.

When selecting tags, browsing through the long list of tags takes time. Unfortunately, if you take more than 5 -10 seconds reading through list, the screen 'refreshes' and the results are displayed. Problem is that it closes the tag selection control and user is forced to try to add tag again, only to get the same result. Very frustrating when reading through a long subset list.

Remove the timeout routine and allow the user more time to complete their search.

Thank you for the message and the report. This sounds like a bug, not a feature. The page should not auto-refresh without you taking some action (for example, selecting a tag).

Can you share an example URL where you are seeing this page refresh after 5-10 seconds?

Are you seeing this on a mobile phone or on a wider desktop browser?

Also, where on the page are you browsing through tags when this happens? Is this in the "Related Tags" section or one of the main tag clouds or somewhere else?

I am very interested in tracking this down so any help you can give would be appreciated.

Pop up Login lags sometimes

One of my biggest complaints about the site has been the UI and the overall look of the website. The site looked like it was designed in the late 90's early 2000's. I'm really happy with a more updated/modern look. Plus your user page and options are a lot better as well. I like how we can create our own lists kind of. Right now we have add a story to our favorite. Then go to our control panel and move the story over to where we want it. That I guess is just until the rest of the website is redone so no biggie. At least now we're not limited to just a few favorites.

For me personally it's hard to test out the tags page because I generally don't use it as much. I normally click on a category first. Then one or two of the tags in popular tags under recent comments on the right side. Which I think we should be able to customize that right side or at lease have popular tags a lot higher up on the page. That's just because I don't really look at contest winners, it doesn't tell me what contest plus what the stories there about. Also recent comments because normally those comments don't involve me, would be more interested if it was recent comments to stories I've read or commented myself.

I do hope with an updated interface I would be able to select a category on the stories page and you know how it shows the most recent uploads. Well I wish I can click somewhere below that list and check the next page of most recent. Especially when I haven't been on for a few days. The most recent is only showing me as far back at yesterday, because there has been a lot more posts recently. So I get to miss out on what was new to me.

Only issue so far is that overall the site seems to be loading slower. Mainly stories have been slow to load. I had a issue a few times the past few days trying to login to comment on a story. It seems to lag out and just hang there. Don't know what has been causing it. It could have been traffic was high on the site at the time.

Overall, great work guys. I can't wait to see more of the updated change to the rest of the site.

Sorry, wasn't a full proper bug report.* To early in the morning.

Device: Samsung Galaxy core
Model: SM-G386W
O/S: Android 4.4.2
Browser: Chrome for Android 58.0.3029.83

Issue: page refresh when viewing subsets of tags

Steps to reproduce:
- load BETA tag page ( https://literotica.com/tags)
- tap a tag from list. (eg. Hotwife)
- page refeshes on select ( https://literotica.com/tags/hotwife/)
- select 'related tags' link
- opens subset dropdown

Action 1: do nothing
- do not touch screen.

Result: screen remains as expected. Behavior: expected

Action 2: tap white space
- tap white space on right side of list.

Result: drop list closes and search results filtered.
Behavior: Expected (tap a line item in Dropbox function

Action 3: Scroll drop list
- scroll screen down one page
- start reading list
- in 5-10 seconds, dropbox closes
- screen refreshes with original selected tag ( https://literotica.com/tags/hotwife/)
- No additional tags selected for filter

Behavour: Unexpected.* Dropbox should remain open for further scroll

---------- End report --------

Feedback: related links Dropbox sort order

When filling Dropbox line items, sort order should be alphanumeric, no sorted on count.

Users will be looking primarily for a specific item, easily found in alpha sort. Not buried in a mixed list.
Example:

Related tag: BBW
Related tag: affair

Since there are only 5 items for affair it is near bottom of list and easily Missed, whereas alpha sort the same item is found quickly.

Thank you for this detailed report, very helpful!! :):)

By following your instructions on an iPhone, I found two potentially buggy behaviors, but I'm not sure which one is the exact bug that you caught. I am guessing one of these two possible bugs:

Both happen on this page:
https://literotica.com/tags/blonde/

1. When I have a tag selected and the page loads too slowly, you can see the "Loading" spinner where the stories should be. If I open the "Related Tags" dropdown during that time, the dropdown will auto-close when the stories finish loading. It seems to be the page re-rendering once all elements are loaded.

2. When I have a tag selected and I click the "Related Tags" dropdown it works fine. But sometimes when I start to scroll down the list of related tags inside of the dropdown, the dropdown disappears for no apparent reason. It seems to be an issue related to how the screen it touched/scrolled, but I'm not sure exactly what's causing it.

Can you tell whether the page is still loading while you're scrolling down that list? While I will work on both issues, I'm wondering which one is causing you problems.

Thank you again for all of the help. :D

Authors allowed to modify/update tags?

What is the verdict on allowing authors to modify/update their tags without resubmitting their stories?

What is the verdict on allowing authors to modify/update their tags without resubmitting their stories?

The new system will eventually allow Lit authors to edit stories without resubmitting. :D Based on author feedback, that has always been the plan with the next version of Lit. However, it's not ready yet. We need to get the full new site out to users first.

In the meantime, authors can edit tags in the old fashioned way if needed:

A quick question - in what way is the new Tags Portal not working in Tor for you? We have another tester saying it works for him in Tor so I want to figure out what is and what is not working. It's possible you are using a different browser width or using features that the other user is not using. If you can share what doesn't work in your version or Tor, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you again for your help! :D

Will there be a way to see what the most popular searches are for each category?

Item #1 Appears to have a connection with #2. Didn't matter for me is I tapped related tags during, after or 30 seconds after page load.
Item #2 is my issue. So that is the behavior I expereinxe.

The results point more to an un trapped exception or similar. Script may have something in it

Tag search

I like the new design and the ability to search by ratings. My only issue is that when I click on a story to check it out, then click back, it returns to the top of the page rather than from where I left it. Kind of annoying
