New jobs disproportionately low-pay or part-time

WASHINGTON (AP) — The 162,000 jobs the economy added in July were a disappointment. The quality of the jobs was even worse.

A disproportionate number of the added jobs were part-time or low-paying — or both.

Part-time work accounted for more than 65 percent of the positions employers added in July. Low-paying retailers, restaurants and bars supplied more than half July's job gain.

"You're getting jobs added, but they might not be the best-quality job," says John Canally, an economist with LPL Financial in Boston.

Look at it they way, if someone has two part time jobs the government can count them as two employed people.( i know, don't give them any ideas)

HATERS

Chelsea got a part-time job interviewing cartoon animals, and she made enough to buy a 10 million dollar pad in downtown NYC.

Don't tell me some of you are shocked at these figures?
It's been trending that way for many years all over the developed world, not just in the USA.
When I had my last retail business, I only ever hired part-time or casual workers because the cost to my business was a LOT less. It made fiscal sense for me and kept the business viable.

The days of long-term, permanent jobs with retirement packages are all but gone.
To think otherwise is short-sighted.

I think the ones who are shocked are those who aren't working or looking for work.

I'm sure they already do that.
Either that or they count that person as one member of the work force and two employed people.
