New Interface question

Where in the new layout for the front page is the Search engine? The "search by member" or "search by story" thingy.

It's probably there somewhere and I overlooked it.

The main story portal page with all of that appears to still be down since the storm. Hopefully it will be up again soon.

It's back up with some changes. Check this. They have made a consolidated New, Random and Hall of Fame and separate ones under each category.

Unfortunately, I can't find the search place.

I think the story page might just still be messed up (from the storm?). Clicking on the "Stories" button gets you no where. I'd give it a few days to maybe go back to normal. However, recently they did change the "author search" function and not in a happy way. Lost the ability to run through the authors alphabetically, as far as I can see. The story search feature never did work too well for me. It froze the screen.

Near the bottom (under Top Stories) is a Search link. Takes you to:

You could just bookmark that last one.

What appears to be missing is the author list that once was on the Story page. The members list includes more than those who have actually posted stories here.

Yeah, although some of their surprise enhancements are quite good, they do tend to ignore what users ask for and provide enhancements they haven't ask for--and leave a lot of uncompleted or broken functions just dangling.

As far as I can see the page you get when clicking on Stories and pictures on the front page is completely different to before. Now you just jump to an Erotic stories overview with all new stories on the top, but shown the way new category stories are (is that how it normally looks ?).

Hope this is only temporary, as I dislike the shown main new stories list because you cannot see what category each story is in.

Usually Manu makes some kind of announcement in the Announcement Forum for a major change but i haven't seen one.

Either it is a server problem or something under construction came on line too early.

The Story Index page was somehow eaten by the power outage. We temporarily rerouted to another page that was already built and contained enough of the site navigation until we could get the real Story Index page back online. That was not a new version of the Story Index - just a temporary substitute. The proper Story Index page should now be where it should be.

Well, well what a surprise, Laurel does actually pop in on AH threads like this to reassure us. Did somebody PM her to warn about the complaining ? Anyway, it's nice to have everything back to normal and lots of new stories appearing.
