Kind of proud of myself so I wanted to do a little bragging.

Those of you who follow me, might know I am working on quite a big story called 'The Red Suit' I am trying to get ready for Christmas. If you check my blog you'll find some free content and thoughts as I walk through my creative process....

But whats got me chuffed is that I wrote my first Christmas carol as part of the story today. it's dark and full of emotion, and when I read it out loud, it made me shiver just a little as I know how it fits into the story. You can read the excerpt from my story on my blog, But this is my Carol, I call it: 'A Midnight Cry'

[:::: Verse 1 ::::]
In the cold, the silent night does creep,
Shadows fall, and all the world must sleep,
But in my heart, a sorrow deep,
I ache, I weep, I ache, I weep.

[:::: Chorus ::::]
Oh, hear the midnight cry,
The stars they fade, the dreams they die,
Yet in the wind a whispered sigh,
Tomorrow comes, the dawn is nigh.

[:::: Verse 2 ::::]
The holly hangs, the candles burn,
But joy and warmth will not return,
For in this night, the soul must yearn,
For love, for light, for love, for light.

[:::: Repeat Chorus ::::]
[:::: Bridge ::::]
The bells may ring, but grief is strong,
A world gone cold, where hope feels wrong,
Yet still beneath this mournful song,
I search, I long, I search, I long.

[:::: Verse 3 ::::]
So sing, though pain does fill the air,
A broken heart that knows despair,
For in the dark, there’s still a prayer,
A new day’s there, a new day’s there.

[:::: Repeat Chorus ::::]
