New here

Welcome. It can get a little rowdy in this forum at times, but when it does it's all bark and no bite, and there's a lot of good conversation.

If you are a new author here, I recommend that you take the time to check out the blue-highlighted permanent threads at the top of the Author's Hangout thread list. They contain useful information about many topics for authors, including site rules and content guidelines. Also, I recommend navigating over to the "How To" category, where you will find useful essays by authors about how to do various things with your stories.

Welcome to the hobby, and to the Authors' Hangout!

Immediate tip: add a link to your stories in your signature. That will make it easier for people to find your works.

Longer term tip: never take anyone's word as gospel here. We're all a bunch of amateurs doing this for a hobby. Sift through the tips and opinions and decide for yourself what works and what doesn't.

Another bit of advice: If you want to draw other authors to your stories, include the link to your story page in your signature line, as I and some others here have done.

Just read Hold Onto Me. The line: My body finished what it needed to do, but she stayed where she was, arms firm and warm. Not the typical turn of phase around here, but very beautiful. The whole thing was poetic. Nicely done.

Welcome!!

Be warned: people here have things they really want to say, and they're going to say those things whether or not they're relevant to anything. This might be one of those things; who can tell?

You write well, though I've only just started reading one.

In addition to old_prof's guide just above, FrancesScott also has a couple of good how-to guides, and I also recommend onehitwanda's how-to guidance on 'painting with soft brush-strokes'. (I'm linking to their whole output, not to the individual articles, because I want you to see their whole output.)

I'm sorry if we're bombarding you with helpful hints, but we tend to be helpful most of the time. My only advice is write your stories your way. While the guides can help you, you need to have your own voice in the stories.

Welcome @IsenRae ! đź‘‹
Just checked out your profile...
Expect emotional slow burns, flawed girls finding tenderness, and stories that bruise a little before they heal.
...and found out you're sooo speaking my languageđź©· Looking fwd to reading your stuff!

Welcome! Hope you find this place useful. Love your writing. x
Thank you for bringing me here! This has been such a wonderful and warm welcome!

To all of you
