New Here Hello!

Ok here is a question and maybe I am missing it… ive seen people mention that “excessive violence” is against the rules but I can’t seem to find what that is defined as in the guidelines? I like to think I am tame and not gorey in my writing, though not sure that is what is meant?

Laurel does somewhere admit that there is no hard line drawn on what is too much, and there are many violent stories on Lit. I don't think it's a question at all unless the violence is intended to be arousing. Violence in the normal course of a story is accepted.

Hmmm we’ll I guess I’ll find out as my story is reviewed. I’ll admit some titties do get slapped around within. But I always feel like I’m over concious with how I may break the rules but in reality I am tame lol

Excessive violence relating to a sexual act. War, murder, decapitation, Michael Bay Booms! as part of the story are fine. Boobie slaps should be ok. :D

If you want an indication of how far to push, I recommend reading Chloe Tzang's Huginn's Yule. Very long, very good, very bloody and a well-deserved competition winner.

Yeah, don't mix sex and violence.
Stay away from the loving wives category.
You could post the greatest story ever and still get negative comments.
There are contests, they are a good way to get large numbers to view your story.

I fee like I’ve edited my story in pending a couple times now LOL just so nervous of rejection but I guess ill get some feedback if it is.

I really don’t want to make another thread to ask this question but how long does it typically take for avatars to get approved? I think its been almost two weeks for me.

There used to be a minimum number of posts needed before you could get one, but I don't know if that's changed with the new forum software.

Ah gotcha ya I didnt find anywhere it said that, profile just has said awaiting moderation for some time :p

It used to be 100, from memory. If you want to get your numbers up, there are a few threads like "Word Chain" and "The Book Alphabet Game" that will help.
