I normally go for nicely subdued bronze-toned glasses frames that are nearly invisible.

But not this year. No, this year I'm going with rose-colored metal frames with silver vine and flower scrollwork on the sides that looks lovely, even if I'm busy turning my head wondering...what is that, what's in my peripheral vision now?

Once I get over the "I have new eyeglasses" headache I will appreciate them more.

Girly glasses FTW!

I'm getting some new eyes next week too. Nothing girly for me, probably very dark frames a la Ronnie Barker.

No, that's ingracious.

I saw some Dolce and Gabbana also.

I was just in a mood, I would have done it.

Oh my god! Last time I tried some Gok Wan glasses on and I looked like the village idiot. Fuck me, he makes a fabulous bra but the glasses are horrific.

Did your migraines get worse before you got the new uns? That's part of the reason I'm going next week, my headaches have been out of control.

I get a little bit of a headache for a few days, but not migraines. I was hoping good glasses would help, but I think my eyes are completely unrelated.

I hope yours help!

I have a dominant right eye and my left eye gets no vote.

Yeah my right eye is pretty perfect. Praps I should just wear a monocle!

There were so many cool new tests, like six stations of new tests I'd never seen.

I'm allergic to the dilating drops, my eyes go berserk for hours and you can't do any level of examination at all, so now I can opt for a retinal scan and macula imaging.

OooOOOooo

I think there's a rule somewhere that says you're only supposed to wear these while on vacation. Either that or you are appearing in a movie opposite Cary Grant, and, of course, it's kind of late for that, so I think you need to be on vacation.

I'm positive I should NOT be wearing those glasses.

I'm also positive that I'm in the "fuck off, I think it's fun" school of fashion.

I have not been wearing my "new glasses." I cannot get used to the bi-focals. I have them in my purse for crocheting and reading. I wear my "old glasses."

bi-focals suck!

Ulaven and I both have the Progressive bifocals. I think that's part of why a new set will give me a headache, they're a bit to get used to.

But since my work involves typing and editing, I gotta use 'em all the time.

Mine are Brooks Brothers frames, a nice light titanium alloy tinted a bronze color.

What does Progressive mean?

Yeah, we went designer by default. I ended up with Versace, but I didn't ask them where the cheap-ass frames I usually get were.

...I don't think they had any cheap-ass frames in the joint.

They're an alternative to bifocals where the lenses are ground to give you not a straight line between distance and close vision, but areas of transition.

So it's like a regular bifocal (which I also had for a few years) but whereas the reading portion is lower and the distance portion is upper, instead of moving just your eyes to focus on upper or lower, you pretty much have to move your whole head AND your eyes to find the right spot. Starts out being disorienting, but after giving them I try I stuck with them.

According to some of the reports, though, some people just can't ever get used to them and their brains faint.
