I must admit I was sceptical about assurances we would not lose threads to the new forum if it became a realityunless they were purely fetish and not BDSM related, and I was right. We have already lost threads. Some were on toilet play, not discussed as a fetish but as a part of D/s play. Does this mean we will be losing more threads? Perhaps someone thinks BDSM is a fetish too.

Can you return a post that was moved by mistake, catalina? Or tag it, at least.

Not being a mod, I have been compiling lists of fetish threads on the GLBT forum-- which is the one that has been most impacted-- for etoile to look at, that lucky woman!

I have been emailing OPs of some threads that were kinda in between, and asking them if they felt it should remain in place or be moved.

That's what I would suggest doing here.

Unfortunately no. Once it is gone, unless the powers that be return it, we have lost it. I cant see why they couldn't have copied the thread to their forum and left it here. I really can't see how a discussion on toilet play in BDSM becomes a fetish topic when a lot of those who said they would or had engaged in it as part of play found it impossible, difficult and for some a turn off in and of itself. I thought a fetish was supposed to be the driving force and a turn on, not a turn off.

Thanks for emailing OP's as I think they should be considered by Lit in this instance. It is not usual Lit policy to do so as they say once posted it is the property of the site, not the OP...and I have known people who have had stories posted against their wishes under GLBT stories instead of BDSM simply because the D/s was between GLBT people or included GLBT activities as part of the D/s and they were unsuccessful in having them moved. We can only hope it might be considered and that we don't lose more threads as they explore our forum further. Sheesh, surely they could wait to build the forum without having to take our threads to help out.

Being proactive can help.

If you feel the thread was moved incorrectly, you can use the 'report this post' feature to say so. I've done that and my protests have-- sometimes-- brought about a return.

:)

Thanks, will do that....then try sleep again.:)

It was Stella who asked for the toilet play thread to be moved, that's why I moved it - because the report indicated it was a fetish thread. You should've gotten that thread report via email too, Catalina, unless it went to your spam folder?

The only other thread I believe I have moved out of here was on menstrual fetishes and that one was definitely not bdsm based in the slightest, save for a post about being humiliated by bleeding through panties, and enjoying same.

And yes, clicking Report emails admins as well as mods, so that's how to get a thread back. My apologies for the mistake, Stella has been consistently right in her reports, and that one slipped by me. I hardly think a single mistake is cause for panic though.

Oh Etoile, I leave panic for those with more energy than I have these days, there are far more important things going on in the world to begin raising panic or concern than a Lit forum. But yes, I did find it disturbing it had moved after the discussions prior to the fetish forum beginning (the one where we were asked to support and vote for it and people asked if we would lose threads here), and assurances anything containing BDSM would stay here. I like to know when someone says something won't happen that I can believe and trust them, but as I said, I had reservations all along and it seems not without cause.

How am I or anyone else to know others might not be moved as nothing was publicly announced about moving these first? For all we know, the process of skimming forums for more material could still be an ongoing process, the process to date has not been transparent in the least to members of Lit, just it seems a couple of people with the power to make changes...hence I raised the issue instead of sitting on my hands and hoping and praying for a positive outcome then screaming foul after more damage was done...not my style.

And yes, you are both human after all, so it had slipped through your radar and been moved, so I don't see a problem with my bringing it to whoever's attention so it might be reversed or at least shared. If it had been up to me, I would have copied the threads so people would then have a choice where they viewed them, or if as in my case they were unlikely to hang in the fetish forum very often, if at all, would not be denied the opportunity to read and/or participate in a discussion which might be relevant to them.

So does this mean you are mod there now as well as here and GLBT? LOL, if so congratulations, you are dedicated, energetic and obviously have good time management!!:rose: BTW, I corrected the move directive so there was a time limit on the redirect as it makes for a neater forum and easier to follow...must be an OCD thing of mine but those damned arrows everywhere disturb my peace when reading the forum.:)

I wish you both well with the new forum, and hope it will soon have enough threads all of its own so it thrives. Diversity is always good.

I'm not a mod there and don't have interest in being one. Sorry you were disturbed by the redirects, I had set them all to expire after a week simply to help draw attention to the new forum. I didn't think a week was that long really. Honestly I'm tempted to ask to be removed as BDSM mod, as I'm tired of having everything I do questioned. I've been moderating at Lit since 2003 and have never had so many disagreements about my moderating style before. Since you seem to have a clear vision for what you'd like the BDSM forum to be, perhaps I should just leave you to run it as you see fit, and hope we don't have another incident during a time of moderator absentia like the one that got me added here in the first place.

I didn't notice and wouldn't have cared if I did.

It's not as if I have to strap on crampons and oxygen tanks to go find a thread that's moved to the new forum.

Click.

I think you do a fine job Etoile. Here, have a giraffe!

Awww, I never had a giraffe before! And thank you.

If anybody knows what a search expedition requires, it's you, Keroin! (My spell check just tried to call you Merlin.)

Etoile, I have no idea why you are taking this personal and making it into a drama where there is none, nor do I know what you are referring to as 'not having ever had so many disagreements about your moderating'. I have not bothered you at all about your moderating and doubt KC would either. Yes, I mentioned my OCD thing with redirects as I have in the past had pages of them to correct which had been in place for a some time, and I explained why it bothered me and assumed at the same time it was my own problem, not yours...but let you know what I had done incase you wondered why. When I clicked on the manage thing it didn't specify any time, so I assumed as before it had just been left to permanently redirect, and as such took care of it. I apologise if you saw this as a personal attack but can assure you it wasn't.:rose:

As to my previous perceived absence, I was not totally absent and checked in without posting often. As some of us know, life sometimes takes precedence over online and as I was going through a grieving process after my mothers passing (of which people were aware) as well as multiple significant and severe health issuesI have been dealing with for the past 2 years, I figured checking and not posting was acceptable for a time under the circumstances.

I also think so.

I do not scan the BDSM forum, but I did scan the GLBT forum to a depth of twelve pages back. As I said, I took the time to PM several posters there, to ask their opinions, and I made my recs based on what they thought.

I too, think the redirect notices are ugly, but they have been very useful at least at GLBT because they make it obvious that there is a new home for the crossdresers etc, and the new forum is filling quite nicely!
