Wishful thinking. The seat that is lost will be one currently held by a Republican. Democrats hold majorities in both houses of the legislature. They are not going to eliminate AOC's seat. It will be more likely Tom Reed's or one in the central NY (Syracuse area). It will be a Republican seat regardless.

ShyBiGuy, look at a map. AOC is from New York. Nancy Pelosi is from California, all the way over on the other side of the country. She has zero input as to New York redistricting. Besides, the lost district will probably be eliminated from Upstate NY, which has been losing population for decades.

This isn't like West Virginia going from 3 seats to 2, so unless someone wants to retire there's not going to be any alternative but have two current incumbents running for the same seat in 2022. New York still has a lot of congressional districts and those drawing the lines have a lot of options.

My guess is the main goal for the Dems will be to try to draw some of the lines upstate in a way that will make things harder for at least one of the current Republican incumbents. But it's certainly possible that after redistricting, a couple of the current members in New York City will find that they are living in the same district now.

That's a pretty easy fix, though. Wayne Dupree seems to be under the impression that there's a way to literally keep AOC from running for office again. This is because Wayne Dupree is stupid.

Pelosi doesn't say who's in or out the same as Trump doesn't get to say that. The voters in her district are the only ones who have that right every time she's up for re-election. And even if the map gets redrawn her district is very very strongly blue and in alignment with her view of policies.

Maybe an establishment Democrat may oust her from her seat but I highly doubt a Republican will and they'll only do that by throwing ungodly amounts of money on legions of TV adds that gaslights the voters....so...establishment playbook page 1.
