Here it is in all it's glory. I'd like to thank MathGirl for fervently hating the previous one and NaturalBornEros for taking my thunder by suggesting this just as I was changing it .
Scene: Holly, the ships computer appears against a black screen.
Holly: This is an SOS distress call from the mining ship Red Dwarf. The crew are dead, wiped out by a lethal radiation leak. The only survivors were David Lister, who was in stasis during the accident and his pregnant cat who was secured in the hold.
3 million years from Earth, Lister's only companions are Arnold Rimmer, a hologram of his dead roommate and a creature who evolved from the ship's cat. Message ends.
Holly's face fades, then reappears
Holly: Additional: Our major concern is that of going space crazy. I myself have only managed to maintain my slim grip on reality from the relationship I share with my troupe of singing potatoes.
Synopsis: Lister is woken from stasis to be informed that a) All the crew is dead, b) He's 3 million years from Earth and c) He's the last human being alive. The only companionship he has is the ship's computer: Holly, who has an IQ of 6,000. Unfortunately Holly has been alone for 3 million years and is now computer senile, so he creates a hologram of Lister's dead roommate Arnold Judas Rimmer, to help keep him sane.
Rimmer is the most anally retentive person in the world. Lister hates him. They discover Cat, the last surviving member of the Felis Sapiens race, who is totally self-centred and egocentric.
After a couple of series they are joined by Kryten, an eccentric sanitation droid, who continued looking after the corpses of his ship's crew, because he didn't know what else to do.
I have not seen many red dwarves ( no really, they don't hang about in my neck of the woods!) but it does tickle my funnybones when I do catch it. I think Kryton is my favourite, but i am a sucker for robots (I love Data too!)
Anyway i guess that has very little to do with anything, but nothing new there I guess!
