New author's question about voting experience

I've had a few stories posted at Literotica now and I've seen a curious trend with voting. I usually get a really high score over the first ten votes. I think that's the magic number that prompts the score to get posted alongside the story. Right after that the story's voting score plummets over the next few votes. Does this happen to most authors for their stories?

I realize my content is out of the mainstream but if it's something that might offend someone you would think they would stay out of the Transsexuals & Crossdressers section. Perhaps there's a mainstream component to that section and my stories fall outside it, too. Besides deploring the content I don't think my stories are so terrible to deserve "1" votes but I might be biased.

The other thing that happens with the 11th vote is that your story gets entered on the "top lists" section. It's (in my experience) natural to experience at drop at that point. Instead of being voted by whoever is poking through the random new stories, you're now being voting also by persons looking for the cream of the crop on the top lists. They're likely to have more demanding standards.

That said, hitting the "top lists" is also a good way to attract trolls.

First, we've discussed this on the board before, but trying to predict how and why people vote is an exercise in futility. My best guess . . . people who log in daily and read stuff as soon as it comes out are enthusiastic . . . trolls are lazier and come along afterward. If you want to make sure that it isn't something about your writing, feel free to ask for help from the Author's Hangout and the story Feedback Board. There's always someone available to hand out some advice.

Trolls seem to be selective, they don't bother fuckin with ya until you get the 10 votes over 4.5 and a cute lil "H" beside your story then they attack, prolly cause their own stories suck and they never got a "H".

I think the site is doing one of the regular sweeps for trash votes right now. I don't know thier criteria for an unearned vote. If you want to be sure they look at yours click the lil "report this" thingie at the bottom of your story and ask them to take a look see.
