New Author Saying Hello

No, it’s probably not what you’re thinking. Sorry. :) The Mirage comics books, the series that all the films and animated series have been loosely based on, are often very dark, violent and gritty. They’ve mellowed over the years, but can still often be that way. I’m wanting to write an all-new, original TMNT novel, going back to the roots of what the TMNT was before getting “kid friendly” and loosing that edge. Mirage’s agent likes my idea and is looking for a publisher. But publishers see it as a children’s franchise and don’t want to take it on as an adult property, as it was meant to be.

I don't think that word means what you think it means. :D

Scott:

Seriously, welcome to the AH.

And seriously, you're a published author and an employed screenwriter. Where's that "Most Irritating Person" thread when you need it?

Finally, I'm dying to know. What's an adult-oriented Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle story? I hope it's not what I think it is.

For God's sake don't apologize for that. If it was what I was thinking I was going to have to hunt you down and kill you. So it all works out for the best.

Kiele,

No, they weren’t. Both scripts are based on ideas that the director/producer had. I don’t want to say much, as neither film has been made yet. But they should turn out well. James Tucker is currently trying to put funding together for the second, wanting to make it first, show it off at film festivals and use some of the money from it to help fund the first film I wrote for him. The first one will have a higher budget. But, at the moment, things are stalled on getting that second script turned into an actual film.

Not a 'plotless direct-to-DVD horror film' I hope? ;) Welcome to Lit.

I haven't moved because my parents are down here. Trust me when I say that, if not for that little fact, I'd have been out of this state a LONG time ago. I'm from Ohio. I like the cold. Ten years down here and I still don't deal well with the humidity and heat.

Yo, Scott Harper.

Why haven't you moved?

See Guy's and Gal's... that is where we are going wrong. Scott's bunked up with his Ma & Pa writing and getting published and most of us are trying to write in our spare time :D

I'm going to get a shovel and dig up Ma & Pa

Hi all,

I joined Literotica a few days ago. I see that my second submission has been approved, so I thought it time to drop by the forum, say hi and introduce myself.

My name is Scott Harper. I’m 33-years-old and live in New Port Richey, FL. I’ve been here for 10 years now and, to be blunt, hate this state. I don’t deal well with heat and humidity. I’m also a vegetarian, solitary, eclectic Wiccan and love animals, especially cats.

I’m an author/screenwriter with 20 short stories published ( not counting the pair that are now here on Literotica ) and have self-published three novels. My fourth novel, and the entire series it kicks off, has been picked up by Dark Castle Lords Publications. That novel was released on July 10, 2008. My first two novels are fantasy for teens/young adults. My third novel is action/adventure for adults. My fourth is horror for adult readers. In the summer of 2007 I was contacted, and subsequently hired by, the independent film company James Tucker Productions, which is based in Pasadena, California, to write scripts for two direct-to-DVD horror films. In early October, 2007, I began working loosely with the New Port Richey-based film production company 11th Dimension Films as a writer. 11th Dimension Films is currently working on pre-production of a short film I wrote for them. Mirage Publications, publisher of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic books, is currently reviewing four story ideas I sent to them with their permission. I have also been in contact with Mirage about writing an original, adult-oriented TMNT novel. Currently, Mirage’s agent is seeking a publisher for the project.

With my schedule, I honestly don’t know how much time I’ll be spending in the forum here. But I do plan to at least drop by from time to time. I’m working on other things for Literotica, as well as other projects. The first story I submitted to Literotica was titled “New Member” and was written just for this site. My second submission here was called “Change of Faith”. It, and my third, “Contest”, were written some time ago and were only recently rediscovered on my computer’s hard drive, along with a couple of other pieces.

I began submitting work to Literotica as a writing exercise, a way to hone my craft and go in a different direction. My fourth novel, “Predators or Prey?” has some erotic content, but nothing like what I’m submitting here. I’ve found that I like Literotica and writing for the site in and of itself. It’s become not simply the writing exercise I intended it to be, but a joy unto itself. So, look for many more submissions from me as I can find the time to write and submit them. I hope you all enjoy my work!

Hello Scott....welcome .....I um grew up in Florida....played in the surf ...learned to surf.....and am slightly hurt that you hate my state...have you given it a chance? Have you sat on the beach and watch the sun rise?...swam in the warm silky waters?.....enjoyed all of the beauty to be found there?.....sigh...I suppose that I will get over this slight...but it hurts...:(

I should think after 10 years he'd have given it a chance. *shrugs*

BTW, I'm from Ohio too, and I'm positive I'd hate it there, as well. Except for December and January, when it's lovely.

Well, sweetie, there are some people whose metabolisms aren't well adjusted to heat, some who aren't well adjusted to cold and some who don't deal with humidity and bugs big enough to carry you away. I, personally, am a complete weather wimp, a Coastie who snivels if the exterior thermometer reads less than 65 or greater than 80 F. And when the moisture from the Arizona monsoons shift west . . . whimper, whine, snivel. Don't blame Scott, he's a Northern Barbarian, by birth. Can't expect such a being to really appreciate Florida. ;)

Welcome Scott Harper. I am intriqued that no one said much about your being a solitary vegetarian Wiccan who loves cats. I think that is wonderful. You are a bit too young for me and I am in California, but if I was across the street from you, I would sure offer you a nice cup of Starbuck's coffee before you jetted off to your successful author lifestyle. Yes, we can be a little jealous around here, but I am happy to know that another author has caught some good sized fish in the almighty stream of publishing.

We are almost neighbors. I'm maybe 500 feet from NPR.

Dont pay attention to the others. Theyre evil and ugly. The Church of Saint Pia Zadora the Immaculate & Divine pays me to come here to do missionary work with them. If I can get them to stop eating each other there may be hope.

That's true ...not everyone likes everything...but there is good in all things to found if you look....and Teddie Bear....with all that fur you don't like the cold?...sigh...Florida bashers...bears that hate the cold...where do you hibernate?

Hello Scott, welcome.
We're not neighbors, but I took up screenwriting as a lark/break from writing porn, and have ended up immersing myself in writing/directing, so we sort of have something in common... in reverse.

Another cat lover?
You'll find plenty of company here.

Belated wlecome from the token Aussie.

Just popping in to say hi. I don't live in FL, but I do live in the south, and I also can't stand the heat and humidity, but I was born and raised here. I tried to escape to a more temperate climate a couple of years back but the plans fell through. Anyway, I feel your pain.

Welcome to the AH. :)

Oh, come on...

A published author and an employed screenwriter! Yeah, right and what are you doing on lit? And where can I find some of your work?

Swallow my tongue, or clicker...

Didn't read all your posts...my humble apologies for overlooking all your credits...welcome aboard...and if you would like to find low humidity, come to Nevada...
