New at this: different approach?

Writing about my/our experiences, true events, as they just so happens..although, there might not be a category for the events, would anyone care if the stories blend into the closes selective topics? Or would there be a 'penalty' for placing stories that may somewhat differ to the topic?

It's not completely your choice. The site's selection editor can change the requested placement. (Happened to one of mine recently.)

Few stories fit only into one category. So, just take your best guess at the best category and click the button.
