I'm new to the site (well.. not entirely truthful, I've been reading stories from literotica for years) and I've just submitted my first story. :) Just a quick question, are we allowed to post our work onto the forums for feedback or can we only get it once the story has been submitted?? If not, I can always set up a blog with the work so you can read it there?
Thanks for the help.. :)

If you'd like feedback, the best thing to do would be to post a link to the story here, not the story itself. Also, let people know what kind of feedback you want -- mechanics, content, etc.

I realize that means you need to wait for the story to post. If you want feedback before the story posts, you should see about finding an editor or beta reader.

Thanks for the help. I guess it's better to post the link rather than the story itself so that you can get comments/feedback in the story's comments on the site?
Yeah, I've read that it can take up to a week for a new members' story to be submitted, which is a shame, because I guess new members want quick feedback so that they keep coming back! I'll still be here in a weeks time though, so that's not paticularly an issue I guess..

How do I go about getting a beta reader? I've seen the list of editors in the main profile section but haven't seen anything on beta readers.. Unless I've missed something in the forums.. In which case I apologise for being completely blind!

Again, thanks for the help. :)

The Web site reviews stories before posting them to the story file--and has some limitations on what can be posted. It stands to reason then that they wouldn't particularly like someone bypassing their filters and posting directly to the forum. Either place, the story is publishing on the Web site and to the Internet.

Sure.. However, it's not exactly bypassing their filters as the majority of readers will find the storys on the main site. Using the forums would be for a specific reaction. All I'm wanting is to find out a quick general feeling towards my story because it'll take up to (or more than) 7 days for my story to be published. Is it wrong to ask for "beta readers" as PennLady called them? People read pre-published work in the form of editors, but that's not what I'm asking for..

Also, I know it's publishing, why do you feel the need to say that?

Sure.. However, it's not exactly bypassing their filters as the majority of readers will find the storys on the main site.

Umm, no it isn't if they reject the story from the story file--which they do when it doesn't meet their requirements. That's rather the point. If they want the right to accept or reject the story, when the decision is taken out of their hands if their filter is bypassed (yes, bypassed) and the story is posted directly to the forum.

I mentioned that it's as much published when posted to the forum as to the story file, because I've found that most do not understand this. How nice that you do. ;)

If you want a place that will post faster, go to StoriesOnline.net, or EroticStories.com. The former usually posts within hours, the second within 24 hours. Check them out first, though. StoriesOnline (SOL) has NO limits on what they allow, and EroticStories (ES) has more restrictions than Lit.

So, I posted the first chapter up on stories online and it's had quite a bit of good feedback, which Is a very big encouragement! :) I hope I get such a good response here as well. :)
