Never go a month without ....

... putting a little money away. Doesn't have to be much, but always some. Even if only $50 or so. Always pay yourself something. Never miss.
Jokes aside, this is excellent advice and how I always taught my son. They don't teach money management in schools, they shouldn't have to, but I think it would be really good if they did :)

I've got a couple of bank accounts paying 5% interest. Even just a few hundred each month makes the interest accumulate rather nicely.

Interest rates are booming here in the UK, I need to get my savings sorted out to make good out of that. Luckily got my mortgage locked in before the boom.
Money talk is interesting just don't give out your bank details ;)

I'd recommend the Marcus account.

That’s what I use as well and I’ve been pleasantly surprised.
Same here.

I was recommended it by a family member and I was dubious at first but I get a healthy return of interest with bonus rates at times.
The money is protested up to £80,000, I believe

Paying interest on a mortgage 💸is giving away money. When you throw that little bit of extra cash monthly toward the principal of the note. You are saving money you were meant to spend. Thats actually very very tangible when you make it a habit. Not at all. Paying rent on a rented property is giving away all your money, infact it's burning your money!
So how do you pay for a roof over your head if you don't agree with mortgages or renting?
Live with Mum?
I totally agree that renting is burning money and it's also 2 or 3 times more expensive than a mortgage repayment, it's just that people find it tricky to qualify to get that mortage, you need to tick a lot of boxes.

I had a mortgage. I sold that house for more than the remaining balance. I used that excess to buy this house on some rural acres outright. No mortgage, no payments.

Happy for you, well done, I'm no financial expert. One day I might be mortgage-free, right now just happy to be on a low monthly payment and not paying rental costs :)

Personally, the lesson taught to me was very very very old school. First know your own history with money. Second , set small goals that add up to bigger goals to set.

I used my veterans benefits to buy my first home 🏡 I thought I’d never have enough cash to put a down payment.

A Mentor shared with me a really simple goal. Save all my receipts for money spend on things other then a roof over my head 🧾 for a month. Then sort those piles into ** I needed ….I wanted…

add them up and do that for a couple of months. You might be surprised at what you find doing the math 🧮.

What you want ?
What you need ?
Once again I don't understand you ( think it's the ocean divide). Happy for you if you have got your place and are happy. I bought my own place when I was 18. All good (y)
