Fake News: ABC, NBC, CBS All Face-Plant on Bogus Anti-Trump Administration Stories in the Span of a Few Days

(1) ABC's Jimmy Kimmel, a committed Democratic operative who sometimes does comedy, aired doctored video of Vice President Mike Pence. The clip purported to show Pence pretending to carry personal protective equipment (PPE) into a medical facility, prompting Kimmel to snark, "Mike Pence pretending to carry empty boxes of PPEs into a hospital is a perfect metaphor for who he is and what he's doing — a big box of nothing delivering another box of nothing." The clip went viral, racking up millions of views, with numerous 'blue checkmarks' on social media eagerly sharing it. But it was a lie, and Kimmel was forced to acknowledge it and apologize, albeit conspicuously unapologetically:

2) NBC's Chuck Todd framed an entire "Meet the Press" discussion around an incomplete and context-free clip of Attorney General Bill Barr discussing the Justice Department's decision to drop Michael Flynn's prosecution. Todd played the abbreviated clip, calling Barr's response 'cynical' and asserting that Barr didn't seek to justify the department's decision as upholding the rule of law. Barr's full answer, which didn't make CBS' pressed-for-time televised news package -- but was made available online -- specifically spoke to the rule of law. Watch the juxtaposition, back to back:

(3) CBS' Scott Pelley, in the span of a few seconds, made a claim on "60 Minutes" that reflects Chinese propaganda, and unfairly smeared Secretary of State Mike Pompeo as a conspiracy theorist:

(4) Not to be left out, here's a dishonorable mention for CNN. This point isn't a lie; it's just extraordinary lack of self-awareness regarding coverage of the Russia story. When the facts no longer fit the preferred script, suddenly we shouldn't be talking about the issue so much, it seems. From Russia, Russia, Russia, to don't we have more important things to cover? Amazing:

Record fine levied against broadcasting giant Sinclair

The only time I see local news broadcasts is in a momentary flash when flipping upward through the channels in a hotel room. But somebody’s apparently watching them, with annual local TV station advertising revenue averaging around $20 billion (the local stations tend to do a bit better in election and Olympics years).

And doing its best to grab as many of those ad dollars as possible, while simultaneously ensuring your local television isn’t really all that local, is Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc. Sinclair owns 191 television stations throughout the United States. If you’ve heard of Sinclair at all, it was probably in the John Oliver segment decrying the way Sinclair makes its supposedly local anchors parrot the exact same conservative talking points instead of doing real journalism.

Trying to fly under the radar is kind of Sinclair’s thing. A couple years ago, Sinclair was set to merge with Tribune Media Company in a $3.9 billion deal. Had Sinclair successfully acquired Tribune, Sinclair would have been in 73 percent of American households. What other company that three-quarters of us have never heard of has been set to sneak into three-quarters of our homes?

The deal didn’t go through though, in the face of a wave of bipartisan criticism that it would have given Sinclair a television broadcasting oligopoly. After the launch of an investigation by the FCC’s Office of Inspector General, the FCC unanimously declining to approve the merger. Of this, Sinclair president and CEO Chris Ripley said in a 2018 statement:

Right Wing Sinclair Group Mandates Right Wing Script Be Read by Local Stations, Spreads Fake News

A viral video compilation of local TV anchors is raising new concerns about the way Sinclair Broadcasting mixes news with conservative, partisan political opinion. And while it already reaches over a third of homes across the nation, the country's largest owner of local TV stations is hoping to get bigger. William Brangham reports.

The stations are affiliates of various television networks, including ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and The CW as well as numerous specialty channels.

Care to try again?

Watching house panel whistleblower shit show, hard to watch pompous ass dems bashing Trump.

I got as far as the reference to former The Man Show co-host Jimmy Kimmel as a "committed Democratic operative" before passing out with laughter.

Corporate news is corporate propaganda. Trusting billionaires to provide fair news is a hard lol.

*crickets*

It's a fucking opinion piece.
Its evidence is his mother.

This was not an example of journalism
anymore than it was of FOX lies but a
reflection on the political commentary
that is different from what he offers...

There's five minutes of my life I'll never get back.

Did you read where the big cry baby was the one who actually signed off on the use of Hydroxychloroquine against Corona and was the person who placed the order for it from Pakistan, which he claimed not knowing where it was coming from?
