I take full responsibility for the number of states we have, the Electoral College and the make up of Congress. As a time traveler I must accept that all of these things that affect my life on if not a daily basis certainly a biannual one are entirely my fault. The last time I moved a rock though America lost the Mexican American War and cloned dinosaurs. It was wacky.

Look up the prison complex. This is well known and leads to how and why our laws and customs are the way that they are.

Ending slavery was a side effect ultimately. The South left the Union to keep their slaves. The Union did free the slaves but primarily because it would break the south economically not because of the kindness of their hearts. Sure some of them did but Lincoln is quoted as saying if he could end the war without freeing a single slave he would. He couldn't. He knew he couldn't.

That's not to say there weren't abolitionists, there were from before we were a nation. There is strong evidence that one of the main reasons for the 2nd wasn't anything about overthrowing your government. It was about if weapons could be outlawed slavery would take care of itself. Numbers games really suck when the numbers aren't on your side. Doubly sow when you factor in how quick conservatives are to point out "Oh only a small percentage of whites owned slaves.

What do you fucking know. Class warfare goes WAY back. They are pretending those people and even people in the North didn't greatly benefit from slavery mind you. But that's what decades of misinformation gets you and there isn't much to be done on that particular front.

They very much do. What part are you not understanding? Even if you want to pretend nobody rich today is rich because of slavery, which is a lie. Even if you want to pretend American industry wasn't built on slavery, which is a lie okay. Just the EC, Congress and the states shows countless laws that would be different if not for it.
