One word... Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

Anywho.. yes, what version of D&D? :p We can help you build it :D

I would assist, were it not for work at five in the fething morning.
As such, I go to sleep. Enjoy the game!

Advice is simple. *

3.5 Edition.
1. D&D is the game where you kill monsters with magic. As such, if you play a non-magic character, your primary role would be to keep monsters from getting close to the casters. If supporting the death wielding mages is your idea of a good time, make a fighter. If you want to bend the cosmos to your will and turn bad things inside out, play a wizard or a cleric.

2. For the love of every other Lawful Evil deity, make a character with a personality. Joe Fighter or Bob Evilwizardington is dull and uninteresting. Try to make a character with enough personality that placing him in a movie wouldn't seem out of place.

4th edition.
1. Be a Warlock. Take the Star Pact. Be insane, and make frequent references to Cthulhu and Friends. This will enhance the fun by orders of magnitude. Ia! Ia! Ia! Cthulhu ftaghn!

2. It pains me, but don't play a cleric. They're lame in 4E. What god you worship means almost nothing, and your abilities all either deal Radiant damage, heal, or buff your allies. The higher level abilities will do two of the three. I'll say it again, 4E clerics are dull and not fun to play.

* Frankly, this is only good for satirical reading, and even then, hard pressed. I'm tired and not feeling typey. 'Cept that last bit about 4E clerics; that's based in painful fact.

Satire or not, I have to disagree :p I made many a ranger (specializing in archery) that could deal more damage per round than a mage. Well, to a single, or maybe two, targets at least :p Mages still rock for area of effect

Though, I tend to be a mage anyway, for sheer fun. I love the power and versatility of evocation and illusion combined :D

Archers are good too...

When I run arcane, I like Conjuration... Especially if you have a cleric with Prayer, Recitation, or any of those other big group bonusy buffs.

Summon Monster isn't a terribly effective spell; you get one or two monsters who's level lags so far behind you that they can't really accomplish much. Alone, that is. Cast Summon Monster four or five times, sprinkle prayer to flavor, and serve on a large platter.

Plus, Teleport is just fun to play around with. :D

Sigh. I miss gaming. Haven't had time.

I was doing that online campaign with some friends, but it was just sucking up way too much of my free time. I wasn't doing the research I'm supposed to keep on top of for my job (Photography gear is an ever changing market, who'd of thunk it? :p) so I had to call it quits, until my knowledge base gets on par with the other pro-sellers at work. Though, I'm doing pretty damn good considering I'm not as knowledgable as the other guys. January I was second top salesman, and March I was third top. I tend to stay in the top 5 now, proud of myself :D

Awesome.

Real life, obviously, has to take precedence... But it sure would be nice to have an extra day in the week that was work free.

It'd be the Empday, and celebrate all the nerdy walks of life.

I'll keep that one in mind for when I rule the world.

ETA: I'm out for the night, catch ya next time man

Snake, if you followed that last night, then you're doing very well for someone new.

Just got back from hanging out with a girl I knew from high school. Le sigh, I feel like such a rube around her. So far, I've flunked out of college and completed my initial training in the Air Force. She's been in the Army, been stationed in Europe and Korea, and she's been deployed to Iraq two or three times and actually done stuff in the world.

It's like, I wanna impress this girl, she's smart, beautiful, even owns a variety of whips and looks good in uniform, she's like the whole package. On top of everything else, my mom has evidently already approved of her as a girl for me to marry. (No pressure there, right?)

Blarg. So anyhow, tomorrow I head to College Station, where I will no doubt have more time to consider my akwardness around women.

I don't know why on Earth you would be awkward, you are such a great guy. And I don't mean that in the "stuck in the friend zone/ why can't the guy I am dating be like you" kinda way. I really think some girl is gonna be lucky to snap you up someday.

On a side note in the vein of the hilarity of technology. Last week the power supply to my lap top (not the whole thing mind you, just the actual jack tip itself) broke. So no lappy for me, no open slots in the pc for a new modem...what's a girl to do?

I ordered the replacement jack (the only good use for in store warrenties in my opinion) and a USB modem for the pc. Saddly it came with drivers on a cd...and of course the 'king of all cd burners' that I had put into the pc 2 years ago is dead.

Insert Mad Mad Mad Mad World hilarity of me rushing around to use other peoples cd drives to copy exe's to a jump drive to install in my pc. After much laughter was had by all I am back, the USB modem works well, and I get to be back on line! WoooHooo!

Life is a funny old thing ain't it?

Wrong mind set!

Try again.
You're witty and clever. That already sets you above most of the human race.

Empress, that is pretty amusing.
And a rather good bit of problem solving too.

Well yeah, and you know what? Right now I'm hanging out with another female friend of mine that I used to date, and I just met her ex boyfriend (they broke up recently but are still friends), and I have to say "What, THIS is my competition? Hah!"

Of course, he's a lot more local than she is. And has a most impressive video game collection, something I've never really had. My nerd fortes have always been in photography, tech skills, and general knowledge, not in video games.

And it's not so much that I think I'm not a great catch or anything, it's just that I don't know what to say when I'm around a girl I like sometimes. Like how do I go from "Hey, Taco Cabana is awesome! I love that we're eating at Taco Cabana!" to any of the stuff that is more indicative of going out or making out rather than stuff that any two random people can do on any given day?

Plus, like I said, this girl has a particular ability to make me feel like a rube. I'm mildly ashamed to say, but the nerd girl I'm hanging out with right now doesn't seem to quite compare, this thought making me feel a bit like a cad (so one girl makes me feel like a rube, one makes me feel like a cad. Somewhere out there is a girl who makes me feel like a prime breeding stallion...)
