Texguy has a point. My only problem with Needle's post is simply that he felt the need to post a pic and demand that everyone talk about it, which is one of the complaints I've heard. Most people, when they want to bring up a new subject, say something to the degree of, "sorry to switch the subject," or they contribute to the already ongoing conversation as well. He's just taking up space while disregarding and pounding his chest at everyone else. To show some contrast, I point to the pics posted since my last reply. They're fluff, but they're not demanding attention, and the rest of us can simply move on if we so choose. That Kung Fu Panda post had a blatant challenge in it. And again, no porper respect for the English language in the slightest. Yes, I went a little rough on him because he's gotten on everyone's nerves, and that may have made me rip into him with minimal provocation, such as it was, but this is what I was asked to do, and again, because of he's done it before, I don't feel the need to apologize to him.

You, on the other hand, Texguy, I will apologize to. You have a point. I'm sorry.

Cleric, I stand by my words. I'd rather be fighting the Man. But nobody is asking us questions on our thread, so fuck it. This is an adequate distraction. And the flouncing the Wyld one speaks of is him calling me a faggot. Which I still think is really kind of cute in a stray kitten hissing at a grown lion sort of way.

As for the upcoming Star Trek movie, I don't care what any of you say, I'm psyched. JJ Abrahms, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, John Cho, Winona Ryder and Simon Pegg (who looks nothing like the Cleric) all added to the fact that it's a Star Trek movie are enough for me to ask for a day off to go see it on opening day.

Hah, so, if you look at a picture of the Air Force Civil Engineer Badge, part of it is a gear wheel thingy. The official explanation of why it is part of the badge is that we are a tiny cog in a great big machine.

Just saw a nifty new tv spot for Star Trek. How wrong is it that I now fee l our former safe havens of Geekdom are being made cool for the masses? Wat is next I wonder? If D&D get glamorized I may have to shoot someone. (I got a +3 on that by the way)

To be fair, some of the best Trek movies have had relatively simple plots and lots of splodey action (for instance: Star Trek II and Star Trek VI, neither of which had terribly deep plots)

And Star Trek is good for science traditionally because it inspires people to do sciency things. The science in the show gets dated pretty quickly though since actual science of course is advanced by scientists, not writers.

Hopefully they will also throw in a morality play with the shooty bang splosions. That is always a fun combination.
