My Nerd/Geek credentials:

I've created my own roleplaying game based on the popular "Pirates" 3-D card game.

I've created my own set of roleplaying rules with a set of friends including a fully unique and fully functional levelling and stat system for D20 based Star Wars.

Stargate SG-1 is my bread and butter. (I embarassed myself trying to appear cool in front of Alexis Cruz (Skaara) at Megacon in '06.)

Resident Evil has one of the coolest villains in history. Albert... friggin'... Wesker.

Math is more a second language to me than my seven years of native speaker level spanish.

If these are insufficient, please inform. I have more where that came from.

Your credentials are sufficient.

You will be assimilated.

Your written and technical uniqueness will be added to our own.
Resistance is not really advisable or worthwhile.

 Welcome to the nerd nation.

Excelsior!

Proud to be here. So... how 'bout them Dolphins?

Dolphins...
Silly mammals.
Spend their entire lives underwater, and unable to live on land, but still has lungs. Silly creatures.

How's things?

Indeed, indeed.

Things are good. I'm free and clear for the weekend (having completed all my college assignments ahead of time) so I can go game WoW when I get the urge. However, many of you have captivated me for the time being, and I'm more than content to stay here and chat it up. Feel free to ask me anything. It's not like I come on here to be Anonymous. That's what 4chan's /b/ is for.

How're you?

ACK!
Speak not of the demon realm!

Your custom Star Wars bit...
As an amateur game designer myself, I'd like to see whatcha got.

Though, if we start talking nerdy here, Rei might get upset. :p

*Hides head under a pillow* Oh god oh god oh god, not the game designing talk. Even the transformers porn was better than that.:D

Well, the basic idea is rather than base HP, attack power, defense score, feat points (non-force related abilities, as when regular people do extraordinary things, created to balance the Jedi), and force points on stats we took a different approach.

STR
AGI
INT
WIS
CHA
STAM
and the others affect of course the abilities one can use, but only to a minor degree.

All players start with the same basic stats.
20 HP
5 ATP
5 DS
5 Melee Dmg (Fist)

STR would modify defense, AGI would modify offense (we considered doing it the other way around before realizing that getting around an opponent's defensive power was based very strongly on agility over strength), INT would modify checks like using technology and spotting objects/people, WIS would affect the ability to use a force power (overcoming resistance, using force powers not listed on your known skills that require a separate cost), CHA being obvious, and STAM affecting resillience rolls like being able to stand high levels of alcohol.

Wall of text crits for 9000 dmg.

So with each battle and campaign completed the player gets X number of chances to roll (determined by the GM). Each successful roll rewards a level. With each new level, a player can add 5 HP, one ATP, one DS, one Feat Point, or one Force Point.

Every three levels, a player gets to learn a new skill. Thusly, with this in frame, a player starts out as weak or sometimes weaker than even the most basic cards (except Ewoks. They suck.)

You may be wondering how to increase/lower stats? It's simple... after successfully completing a check with a 20, the stat required to make the check increases by 1. After rolling a one, said stat decreases by 1. In this way we felt that real life was mirrored, with small increases and decreases slowly affecting a growing hero's ability. Those with severly affected scores will die off sooner or later, and those with markedly upgraded scores will find things a bit easier. There's a lot more to it, and this was really drawn from memory... but I can go dig around and find the play booklet we made for the "official" wording.

EDIT: After fooling around with Microsoft Works, we made a viable character sheet as well.

Note: One can earn and lose reputation with factions, a notion we came up before any of us had even heard of WoW. I really think it's a bonzer idea.

Interesting.
How does your race affect things? Are all characters potentially force sensitive?

Race can make a minor effect, at the behest of the player and the acceptance of the GM. However, since a player starts with anywhere from one to three abilities based on natural style (physical, balance, mental) there is rarely a need. However, I once made a Mandalorian. Since SW Lore says they can regenerate by use of racial technology, I was permitted to lose starting money to gain the chip, and gain the Regeneration 5 skill.

Not all characters are potentially force sensitive. Working with SW Lore again, such creatures are Wookies, Ewoks, Mandalorians, Toydarians, etc.

Welcome!

Please make yourself at home, note the fine and lovely ladies of the thread as they are always charming and beautiful. Of course the man are equally socially skilled as we Nerds can be.

So glad you happened upon and joined our little Commune of Nerdity.

The graphic novel is STUNNING!

I consider it mandatory reading for anyone who seriously is into comics. The levels and subplots to it are beyond beliefe and after reading it 14+ tmes I still find something new in every read of it.

As for the movie... I have seen the cast and it makes me cry.

The guy they picked for Rorsach is so obviously more Spider Jerusalem that it hurts.

I also weep. Yes Watchmen is required, No I'm not officially back yet, but I had to get my two cents in.

Watchmen is probably the finest work Alan Moore has ever done, and considering his catalog of comic godliness, (V for Vendetta, The League, (Both Justice and Extraordinary), Supreme.) That's saying a lot. It has one of the greatest stories to be told, and it is one of the realest stories written.

And the cast for much of them is horrid. I also Weep for the directing, Zack Snyder may have done some fine and VERY entertaining films. But Watchmen requires subtlety, Tact, And an ability to get a star to convey something OTHER than menace and machismo. he's done TWO other films. Dawn of the Dead and 300. sorry your resume does not cut it, please bring back Terry Gillam, And his mini-series. I l think that less special effects and more DARK humour, will be FAR superior to Snyder's, CGI masturbation (Tell me 300 wasn't.) and three part plot strategy. Violence and some gore, a liberal helping of Yay macho pricks, and finally everyone dies.

(My apologies I'm bitter.)

Less bitter but now delirious. My leg fell off.

Okay, just finished Watchmen, and I thought it was great on many levels. Of course my favorite character in it had to die (they always do) but it was fitting.

Why, no, of course not!

I'm merely...
Placing decorations.
On key structural points in the room.
You know... To cheer up the place.
Why do I see this as a failed attempt to be festive and nice? :p
