d12 you say..? Hmmm..... ;)

Thanks everyone :)

Hey man, posting here is the first step. Just don't let the Empress get her claws into you, or you'll never leave...

Ok, this might seem like a simple question, but how do you find out what codec you're missing for a file? Trying to play a video file on WMP, and it tells me it can't cause a codec's missing, but it doesn't say which one.

it didn't give you the "More Info" option on your error message?

what's the file extension?

wmplugins.com is usually a good place to start

.mpg It did have a more info option, but all it did was send me to a web page that said if I knew the name of the codec I was missing I could search for it, but it didn't tell me what it was.

thanks, Bill...

Sometimes you need to install a knock off version of wmp to get things to run. I have had that problem before and I'll try and recall what I used and link it.

You should be able to use GSpot (Hey, I didn't name it) to find out what Codecs you need.

Howdy Nerdly types. *yawn* Why is it the weekends never seem long enough or relaxing enough?

Tomorrow The Prestige comes to DVD. Now not only is this a kick-ass movie in so many respects, it's got one key thing that makes it the awesomest movie ever.

Nikola Tesla (played by David Bowie for added sexiness) was probably one of the greatest minds ever. If I could go back in history to pick my perfect nerd, it would definitely be him.

I'd have to say that Stephen Hawking is my favorite nerd, if just because he got to play himself on an episode of Star Trek (playing poker against Albert Einstein and Thomas Jefferson in one of Data's holodeck simulations).

Probably one of my favorite random Trek moments. :D

Ever get your codec figured out?
Yeah I did, but I have other problems to fix now. :p

For one, when I play certain videos the time that's marked is wrong. Like it's say :25 but it's really almost 30 minutes long. Not sure how to fix that

Then I've been trying to get this emulator to work. Downlaod the Emulator fine, but I cann't for the life of me get the games to work. I followed the directions too. Oh well.

It's MAME. I downloaded a few different ones like MAME32, and Kawaks, but they don't work on either one. I know my friend has it, so I might ask him, but otherwise I don't know.
