Well my friends, I am now officially unemployed.
Is that good or bad?

I just re-joined wage-slave nation,a few weeks ago,after over a year of unemployment.
It's good to have regular paychecks coming in again, but I'd forgotten how much I hate getting up early, and having to commute.

I was... (ahem) "let go"

Well, I was about ready to leave that job...

On the other hand, I have some options before me to consider; I can go back to school in January, I can take a job and continue the course, or I can take a job, build some some savings, and run for office in the next provencial election. Hmm.

haha I may not be able to hang in this thread for too long... I don't game at all... and I am not into anime or anything resembling it... lol

But, I am huge computer nerd... and I love fantasy books...

Books I can think right off the top of my head that I enjoyed

The Malazan Book of the Fallen - Steven Erikson: good series... loooong read
Any Drizzit Novel - RA Salvatore
Wheel of Time - Robert Jordan
Crown of Stars - Kate Elliot
A Song of Fire and Ice - George RR Martin
Any Taltos Novel - Steven Burst

and not fantasy, but The Walking Drum - Louis L'Amour

those are the fairly obvious ones...

It's okay, I'm not that much into games or anime either but they tolerate me.:D I'm just a comic book nerdette and an old world of darkness larp nerdette.:D

Well first off, welcome to the Nerd thread- where it doesn't matter what type of nerd you are- you are accepted for as little or as much knowledge you know.
Let me tell you something that I experienced when I first started posting here. Yes, this is a thread that you can get easily sucked into- whether you like it- or not. But, this is also a thread that you have to find your place to slip in- and be noticed. Don't take it personally- it happens to us all- well, cept the starter- Clerky.
Find your level of comfort- and you'll do fine.

Now, if you have read any of the previous posts, you'll notice a variety of nerds here, we are all one-and the same, with a few kinks in between. We are all different in our unique ways, and each of us have a special nerd quality. Here's a few examples how each of us differ:

Cleric- knows an insane amount of well...everything. To look further, I mean- he knows everything from D-20 to like, the reason why Canadian's are coffee fiends.

Squirter- a beautiful person with a thirst for knowledge on every Marvel, DC- hell anything to do with Comic Books, Comic Persona's- you know what I mean, also, she can out beat 99.9% of us nerds with that knowledge she has/had learned.

Trombonus- This guy knows so much about Transformers- it's crazy- and unbelievably...amusing to know that one can know so much about something. He's a incredible musician too.

Rhyst- This guy has a knack for telling you exactly what's wrong with your computer. A Guitar Hero expert, and an amazing friend. He's always there for you.

that's just a few- I could go on about the others, but it's 2am where I am, and well..there's alot of things I could say about everyone here on this thread- but I don't want to bore you with our knowledge. But you see? Everyone is good at something. So are you.

don't forget that- friend.

Just saw "Across the Universe". Very good movie. Very LONG movie. Also somewhat disjointed with some of the minor character plots, which mostly seemed to exist as an excuse to use more Beatles songs to tell their stories.

*Sniff*
Thanks, but it's a prerequisite to the feat Start Nerd Thread.

I'll let you in on a secret.
I started this thread as a way of assimilating all the different nerd knowledges I don't have.
This isn't just a wonderful friendly place to hang out... It's a matrix of all knowledge. And once it has absorbed enough Knowledge ranks, I shall consume it, and ascend to the higher nerd planes of existence.

My buddy Tharizdun gave me the idea. :p

Plus, canucks love coffee because it's hot, and pleasantly tickles their natural cold subtype senses.

Well I just beat Heavanly Sword for the PS3. It was quite good actually, lotta fun to play. Graphics are INSANE. Its so short though it kind of feels more like a demo than an actual game. Still shows off the PS3's potential nicely (there are times when you have 1,000's of bad guys on the screen with you.

couldn't be the frequent panty shots- oh not at all- that's too silly.

I'll be honest, the hats do more for me than the repeated panty shots.

I suppose I should be vaguely bothered by that.

Nerds!

As it turns out, the ending for Halo 3, on Legendary, is the same as it is on Normal. It still sucks.

And, in all that time spent, as a minor god of combat, I earned exactly zero new armor pieces.

Bungie, I ask you this; how, exactly, did you manage to bungle this project that badly? Was it laziness? Too short a deadline? New staff? Why?

As always our Resident Nerd Kitty is right. I am a storehouse of useless knowledge when it comes to comics, sci-fi, fnatasy and computers. My Nerdom levels are as plentiful as my bossom. Leading one nerd to speculate that aforemention bossom is actuatly the repository of aforementioned knowledge.

Welcome aboard!

:D I've had my theories.

And no knowledge is useless.
Everything has its use.

It is sometimes the use, its self, that is useless.
But, even useless has its use.
