Nerd knowledge: Scifi communications come to life

I read about Quantum Entanglement Theory (yeah even us dirty finger nails blue collar types can read) a while ago and wondered what was going to be the first use of it. Being an avid scifi reader I thought that maybe communication of some type would be. Apparently my guess was right.

The entanglement of two quantum memory systems 12.5 km apart from each other
