Ahhh, James, a little theatre for the 'usual suspects?' Or a coming out of the closet to join and support the muted voices that tremble before King Obama and his Court?
What say?
Most professional disciplines are somewhat isolated from each other, out of necessity I would propose, as each has its' own special language and code words. Ayn Rand, regardless of your slurs, was the pre-eminent Philosopher of the 20th Century and I challenge you to offer one other who even approaches her innovative new and inclusive world views.
Even more importantly, she provided a roadmap of the contributing disciplines, especially in Classical Economics and Objectivist Psychology that offered a continuity of thought between the Ancients and the Modern Thinkers.
"Paying the Devil" is an old sailors term concerning caulking seams in a wooden boat in difficult places to reach. The only inkling of intelligence in your whole paragraph is the unspoken, by you, inter-relationship between Government and Corporations brought about by increased regulations and restrictions that require the market place to meet government requirements as a primary goal instead of the traditional and productive profit motive. Business will survive, regardless of what it is called upon to manufacture to, 'pay the piper', of big and growing government.
Your National Parks, National Forests, NASA and NOAA, and a host of other Government entities are non profit making organizations supported by tax monies and providing high wages and top benefits for Union members.
None of those organizations were foreseen or given authority within the Constitutional limits on government and many exist because of Executive decisions for social purposes; again, not the intent of the Constitution.
There are over 16 million American's current unemployed at the present time, 10.2 percent of the work force. Credit for small business is still available, although less so than before, especially to risky, low income buyers, as the Financial sector struggles to survive against Government odds that are weighed heavily against them.
Small businesses that have adapted to the constricted spending of the general public are in fact expanding and hiring, which is what small business does when the economic environment undergoes a change.
Your uber foolish Keynesian solutions have been tried and failed miserably and in essence, are the cause of corporate dependence on the whims of a manipulative Federal Reserve and regulatory agencies.
I read before in an earlier post of yours, the silly idea of a 'Manhattan' like project for the energy industry, and laughed to think you might even be remotely serious.
I find it amusing to be called a conservative, stuck in the past on one hand, and then a 'futurist', in the Tofler manner, on the other. It may come as a complete surprise to you, but a 30 year mortgage is a projection of trust into the future as is the construction of a Nuclear Power Plant or an Electical Transmission Grid, or for that matter, a MagLev Rail System between major Metropolitan areas.
You advise placing the future of the nation in the hands on myopic bureaucrats in Washington as you increase the number of Federal agencies and employees, none of whom produce anything but paper, aka 1990 page House Health Bill.
The health bill as it stands now, would create 22 new Federal Agencies and over 200,000 new government employees, none of whom are proctologists or even authorized to dispense an aspirin.
Your Grand Energy Plan, Cap and Trade, would eviscerate the economy, cause even greater unemployment, destroy the Coal and Natural Gas Industry, double the cost of energy to heat your home and cool your food and bring about a further reduction in the standard of living of every American.
Yeah, JBJ, you have a great plan, one that if implemented, would turn this nation into a third world banana republic.
Neither you nor I will be around to reap the misery, but our kids will and their kids will and that I find tragic.
I trust you will enjoy your new found friends on the Left, I am sure they will all gather round and applaud.
