I haven't came across any rules pursay regarding characters needing to be over the age of 18, are these rules only applied if characters are engaging in sex?

I need to clairfy before I consider posting a chapter onto this site (I don't want to cause any trouble) I have a seventeen and three month year old girl, who is on her own journeys travelling from state to state, she meets a guy, (no kissing or sex, just a one sided love) She meets another guy a month short of her eighteenth. They are eventually involved in sex, its not till the day of her birthday.

I want to make sure that its okay before I continue writing.

Can someone please explain to me the rules about of when and when not to involve those under the age of 18 and when is material becoming too explicit, just so I understand in the future.

Thankyou :)

AFAIK under 18s are only an issue if sex is directly described. Under 18s who don't have sex are fine, as is alluding to under age sex e.g. "She had lost her virginity at 15." But to describe that event itself would be against the rules.

Could you elaborate on what AFAIK is please.

I am assuming that my above material is acceptable?

Also is self masturbation acceptable material for Literotica if the character is under the age of 18?

Thankyou.

AFAIK is "As Far As I Know". Other acronyms you might see are WRT - With Regards To - and IIRC - If I Recall Correctly.

Masturbation would be a no-no. ANY sexual act involving a minor in ANY sense is strongly forbidden. What you have outlined does not break any rules as I understand them.

Great everything is clean, no sex, no masturbation, not till her eighteenth birthday.

Just one last concern, her partner is 19, she is seventeen when she meets him again, is this accepted? As stated there is no sex, no masturbation. Is kissing accepted between a minor and someone who is that of a young adult?

Sorry for all the q's. New to Lit want make sure that I get all my facts straight.

Yes, otherwise we'd be stringing mothers up on charges for kissing their children goodnight. Granted, there is a difference between a kiss on the forehead and a kiss on the lips, but I don't believe there's a legal difference.

The key thing is Age of Consent. Because this varies from place to place (in some areas it's as low as fourteen!) LitErotica uses the Age of Majority (almost universally 18 or at least older) to ascertain what is legal and what is not. I think a chaste kiss would not violate site rules.

Yes, I had an idea that they would kiss very briefly whilst mucking around outdoors and just got tied up in the spur of the moment.

And then there relationship would grow very quickly leading up to the days to her birthday.

If anyone disagrees with my idea let me know and I shall erase it.

Thankyou Brazen for your patience.

I would say that is perfectly acceptable. It is good to see that sort of character development; I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that you're writing a romance?

And it is not a problem, my pleasure to help.

Yes I am :) I tend to always, always write straight romance, can't seem to write any other subject, except for first time and non-erotic. Only problem is, I'm defiantly shy and will tend to hide behind a rock for a week or so.

Have never submitted work of any erotic nature before, have Literotica to thank for all all my inspirations and "experience" from one that had no sexual writing knowledge to someone who has a very good grasp on how to place sex on a piece of paper so to speak.

I was a non member for the last three years, only had the courage recently to come out of hiding and thought, well, sex is a common occurrence, erotic stories should be placed in the same category, unfortunately not everyone excepts them.
