I think the answers to your questions will vary greatly, depending on who you ask, as so many of them are down to personal preference. I'll give you my two cents:

There is certainly a thread of dominance, perhaps not in th sense of bdsm, but, surely the bottom experiences what I call the Joy of total surrender, therefore the topper must feel pretty much in control, if not dominance.
