Hello,

I'm in need of an editor for a story I have been working on for a while now. I'm not sure if I should publish a chapter at a time or wait to publish the whole story at once. I feel that I would be motivated to finish if part of the story were published ahead of time. This would be the first story that I've written.

I would appreciate having someone check spelling, grammar, and offer some feedback.

Two chapters are completed and I'm beginning work on the third chapter. One chapter is 2,000 words and the other is 1,300 words. The story would probably be categorized as First Time.

Please contact me if you are interested. I am open to any suggestions you may have.

Thanks in advance,

Khukuri

chapters

1300 and 2000 word chapters are um... kinda short. You should be able to count on 350 to 500 words (printed that is) per page. If you can, you might consider mashin' these two together into one chapter.
You could send it to me if you really need some help.

But, then, what to put in a chapter depends more on covering the arc of the chapter than the wordage. If you've got good development of the story and characters; a new, meaty point or two introduced; a sex scene (if this is erotica); and good transition to the next chapter that will get the reader to come back, the wording devoted to a chapter of a serial means close to zilch as long as it meets the minimum requirements for posting on the site (800 words). Wordage is one of the last things to worry about in putting together either a good chapter or a good story.

I agree with SR. Leave things the way they are. If you feel compelled you can always pose the question to your editor and see what s/he's opinion is. Length should never be the determining factor for paragraphs.

Good advice

SR has given solid advice. I really hadn't planned being here now given my kb problem.

But here I am. And I'll man-up and apologize to SR71 for my -deleted- comments. Sorry.
