Need some writer friends :)

I realize the editor's are very busy, so I'd like to propose a alternative.

I would like to make some writer friends who are in a similar boat as me.

I.E. -- You need someone to bounce idea's off of, get suggestions and not worry about the technical writing "yet", if you know what I mean!

I run a writers group (erotica stories) on a cafemom (it's a mom only site) for mothers who want to share fantasies, or become better writers....(And the readers who give feedback on our work.)

(I know many here are not female and NOT mothers, so I am more likely to come across a wider view point, and I do occasionally write from a males POV. So this would be extremely beneficial for me.)

My strengths are my imagination, and my ability to paint pictures with words.

My weakenesses are, my technical writing skills. (I have dyslexia and trouble with little stuff, stuff that needs a editor eventually. I.E. past tense to current tense writing... fucking vs fucked.)

I prefer instant messengers, I dislike email tag. (though, I can do email tag if needed.)

I have aim, msn, yahoo, xfire. (Am I allowed to post my contact information here? I don't know all the rules here yet, I am still new. So pardon me.)

thank you for your time....

Erotica? Some are more romantic, some are BDSM, some are just kinky, some are non fiction (grins) It just depends on my mood. I am working on a novella called Deception Island.. (its a BDSM story, think Ann Rice's sleeping beauty series and its similar "idea" to that. I am about 20k words into, working on the 6th chapter, but i've had writers block so I've been working on short stories and other projects and just slowly been ticking away at it.. but that will be my baby when its done and submitted to publishers for actaul print, i've had some publishers read the first chapter and like my idea's/stories, but suggested I find someone to help me with some of the technical stuff while I work on it, and I know my deception island story will need ALOT of work before Its ready for submission. mostly because I write 200WPM and I did'nt bother with technical stuff at ALL while getting the outline down and working on some of the filler so its pretty gnarly right now in the unedited versions of the chapters...) WOOO that was a long speel....

Anyways, I also want to compile a book of short stories for publication either in other "erotica" books, or a single book of just my work... doesn't really matter to me.. I write for the love of writing.. its a hobby... (My husband makes enough money that I won't ever have to work, but my son's starting preschool here soon and I will have more spare time to focus on my "hobby".)

Would you like to know anything else?

Do you have any instant messengers?

Hi Shay,

Welcome to the EF. :rose: If I can give you only ONE advice it would be for you to chose carefully your editor. Make sure they're suitable for you, that your personalities mesh well together and that they know what they're doing. Too many people lately have complained to me that someone had edited their story and then found out it wasn't edited at all; all that person had done was 'correct' a few minor issues. If you're serious about your writing, and I don't doubt you are, you'll be best to choose well so as to not have surprises when you post your stories.

Another recommendation if I may, go through the list and choose an editor that has updated his/her profile not too long ago -unless you know the editor and he/she hasn't updated it because they're behind schedule already - you're fairly sure to get someone who's still at it. Contact one or two or three and send them a sample of your writing than, when your work comes back, look at what they've done and pick the one that you feel most comfortable with.

The relationship between writer/editor is a great one but sometimes you need a few trials and errors before being able to get one that gets you.

Good luck. :rose:

I offered, if she can wait until Tuesday to have it done. Company this weekend from out of town. :)

Let's hope she does wait, then. She can't go wrong with you in her corner. :D

Do you know how to cancel a submited story? I need to take it off and have my husband go through all the technical stuff.. (he has time for this one) and I want him to do it because my editing job sucked...

I love my husband but I don't trust him with the stories I actaully care about.. its to easy to get mad... so i'd rather someone I don't know, because then its unbiased, I just wanted him to edit this one because I named the guy his name and he has sort of a invested interest in "katie's" story...

I do want you to edit grace's story, and I can wait. (I just have like 50+ stories to get edited.)

yeah I do have aim, if you would like to chat just hit me up at COOLBOD8, I can go back and forth with idea's or just talk about writing with you if you would like, let me know.
