Need an Editor: non-human, sci-fi...

I need an editor to take a quick look at a new story. ~7800 words. Must have a sense of humor. I need it read for flow and to catch any spelling mistakes I missed.

Not to monopolize your stories, RMB, but if you don't already have someone, I could look at another story for you. I like your sense of humor and now I'm curious.

I guess I have someone now. I just wasn't sure if you wanted (or could) take on another one, so I didn't ask through email. I've got to run over it for spelling, but I'll send it to you in the morning.

Just got it, and I love the title.

The best part? I checked last night and that title is not taken. I had to change Rain Dance to Dance in the Rain because the former was already taken...

Titles can't be "taken." They can't be copyrighted and titles are frequently reused (a few and only a few have been trademarked because they have separate product value). You just need to consider how reusing one will effect your target audience's interest in your story.

Yeah... but I don't want to post a story under the title Rain Dance and have someone get bent because there's a story with that title already. I'd also rather not deal with the fans of one story saying I stole the title and blah blah blah... It's easier to just change the title when I submit it.

Certainly, if that's your preference. But, still, folks don't need to be thinking they can't reuse titles if they want to.

I wasn't trying to make people think that. They can use whatever title they want and let confusion ensue when there are three separate stories, in three separate categories, with the same title. With as many stories as there are on Lit, I'd be surprised if this isn't true with some of them.
