Hi there,
I am looking for someone to Edit my stories. My husband was doing but he don't like to read my stories. I have emailed a few people thru the Edit thing and only a few has replied. I was having someone help me and i sent her my story over a month ago and she still hasn't sent anything back.
If someone could help me i would be forever greatful.
:D

Thank you Linda

I hate to be a jerk...

But I serioulsy would have offered to help edit your story.

However, your grammar and spelling were so poor in your request that I'm not sure it would be something I could sit through and still be objective in the end.

I don't want to some off as an a$$hole, but you should seriously consider making your request appear to be worth the time of someone nice enough to edit your work.

PS~ Perhaps English is not your native language? Maybe this would explain your oddly spelled/worded request. If so, I apologize and humbly request that you tell people this during your request so that we know what kind of challenge we might be facing. Thanks.

wornoutkeyboard

hi there,
well I came off as an a$$. Yes English is my language. The only thing I need someone to do is check and see if I forgot a period or something. I have spell check on my puter. I already have a story on the site if you would like to read it and see how I write. its under bbygrlva2002

Be glad to help you

Howzit, bbygrl?

Funny how wornoutkeyboard had as many errors -- or more
-- as you showed. Those are easy to fix, you know, and your
experiences and view of life and lover are far more important
than grammar and/or spelling and all that jazz.

Please look me up on the registered editor list and I'll respond
if you ask.

Aloha from Hawai`i

Where did you see "errors" in wkb's post?

You're kidding, right?

Check the first sentence of the reply! WKB could have at least spelled "seriously" correctly before complaining about someone else's spelling.

And what's with "a$$hole"? Is it an advertisement for anal-loving hookers or escorts?

Pssst . . . This is a porn board, afterall, and you can say things like: fuck, and dick, and cunt, and pussy, and ass.

Well..

You must be joking me!

Hmmmm... I don't want to be a jerk and dissect the original poster's errors, but I hardly find 2 typos to be even NEAR the magnitude of the problems in the original post.

Also note that I wasn't requesting editorial help.

Clearly my errors were small enough to be glanced over by hiddenself quite easily.

The original poster's were not.

But please do follow up your statement with some fact. So we have what? 2 errors on my post. I can find 14 in the original post. I'm no matematician....but....you get the idea.

The SENSE of WKB's gratuitous message is offensive. That said, the errors are set aside below including two phrases too awkward to be taken as written by a literate person.

Editors are here to help people at whatever level they bring to their writing.

Well...

Clearly I should call my agent and cancel my contract as I am so obviously illiterate.

Of course in my illiteracy I seem to recall something about forum posts being written in a conversational tone.

Be offended Bill, be whatever you want to be.

Just don't expect me to care.

~WOK (noting Bill's extremely vague description of why my " phrases too awkward to be taken as written by a literate person" were wrong...just his absolute and god-like assurance that they *are*. )

To close this part of the thread . . .

WKB, if being rude is part of your "conversational tone," then you have confirmed what I thought. I've heard from bbygrl since this started and, as it turns out, she has a lot of sense, is very kind and wants some help with her writing. That's all. It didn't deserve the response you gave her in this, the Editor's Forum.

Move on with your life bill....

It is seriously sad that you feel you need to "cyber protect" someone from receiving advice.

My comment was a serious one and intended to indicate why there was no repsonse to the request (at least from myself). I stand by what I said in my first respone and it is not going to be taken back. Period.

So move on with your life and find something better to do than be the "caped cyber avenger". Other people can think without your help, I assure you.

No Manx, I wasn't, but I was perhaps not as clear as I should have been.
"Serioulsy" and "some" are not really "errors." They are in the same league as "thru" and "i sent" -- little typos, hitting the wrong key (wkb's keyboard is worn out after all). :) Those little ones are certainly not as egregious as "he don't" or "a few has replied," wouldn't you say?
I thought wkb had a valid point, even if harshly stated. Bill disagrees. It's a free country after all.

Editor

Hi all, the only thing i wanted was someone to edit my stories. I am sorry if i dont use proper English. I love to write and that is it. This is the end of this topic. i found someone to help me and thank you both for repling

[b]. . . as she said[/b/

wkb carries on . . .
"I stand by what I said in my first respone and it is not going to be taken back."

For cryin out loud bill.... you are getting pathetic here.... give it up and move on with your life.

~WOK

PS~ Hiddenself....

My keyboard is actually so worn out that it does not have letters on most keys. But, that aside...most of my typos are due to writing very quickly (as being on lit does not encompass my life). So... typos happen. And I don't worry too much about them. Having grammar so poor that I don't even seem to use English as a first language... THAT i would worry about.

Now lets see how long it takes for Bill to get back down to his mother's basement and look for another typo.

It didn't take long, WKB . . .

Good for you, HawaiiBill. To prove a point (and a pattern?) . . .

Hiddenself, you’re perfectly within your rights (on this board, at least) to defend WKB's public flaming of someone asking for help (yes, that's my opinion).

For the record I wouldn’t know bbygrlVa2002 or her writing from Adam, and for the sake of argument, let’s say it’s terrible.

A bigger issue remains, one that we often encounter here. WKB could have (should have) approached this differently, IMHO.

There are many so-called writers (and professional alike) that frequent Lit, to learn and explore and genuinely solicit help. Does that mean we have to help in every instance, particularly if the writing is beyond hope? Hell no. But for the novice writers, many of which know fuck about getting started, it would be nice for the many of us here that have a modicum of some tact—yes, it would be nice.

WKB, in my humble opinion, had the opportunity, in fact, to demonstrate to many other Literoticans that frequent this board (possibly seeking present or future help in their writing), that she could be a helpful editor. She could have shown bbygrlVa2002 (publicly or privately!) many of the online useful writing resources for beginning writers (many examples here on Lit), or offer some words of encouragement to do a little more homework before attempting a submission, or offer a number of other ideas—and then be done with it!

But no. WKB elected to attack, and show, instead, the lack of tactfulness. And with all that she seems genuinely surprised that others on this thread can criticize her in return, pointing out the very elements that caused her to withdraw in disgust from bbygrlVa2002's story.

Give me a break. WKB, your editing skills are now suspect. Go ahead. Now blame it on your keyboard (I'd get your "tool of the trade" fixed . . . it makes your postings look like you're an amateur).

And, besides there was nothing “nice” in your initial post to demonstrate you have the patience, capacity, or time to be helpful with amateur or novice writers.

Hmmm....

I think I'll go out now and buy a new keyboard so I can appear like a professional poster. (Notice how Manx doesn't read posts all the way thru?...and ignores that I said most of my errors are typos from doing things quickly....but shhhhh....we wouldn't want to deal with the facts here.)

Or not... I have better things to do.

I mean really.... I think it is pathetic that you can compare typos to gross mis-use of the English language.

And no... I never said I was shocked that people have nothing better to do than jump in as "cyber saviors". And leave it to them to nit-pick every typo they see because their argument is weak. It is the on-line equivalent of arguing semantics.

You can feel I was flaming. I know otherwise. If I were flaming, I could have wasted my time quoting and pointing out every single gross mistake that was made. Nope...instead I gave MY reason for not responding.

But alas... I did not follow what YOU think I should have done. Last I checked, I was under no obligation to look/think/act like you or on your behalf or at your request.

Might I also add.... I don't see any such friendly and helpful links posted to this girl by you. Nope... that would actually serve a purpose. No... you are much more interrested in jumping in and stirring shit. But hey, if you wanna waste your time doing that...go for it. Have fun. Make a t-shirt.

Now get busy correcting any of my typos because I have better things to do than to spend abnoxious amounts of time proofreading a forum post.

But in the end... I'm pretty sure....typos or not... that I still seem like I understand the English language.

~WOK (#1 suspect)

PS~ Good for you...seeing that I make similar typos. You get the gold star. At least I can rest easy knowing they are consistent. Wouldn't want to get them all out of sorts.
