"Do it, or we'll shock you again, you know the routine," the guard growled at the young woman who reached out a tentative hand to the shaking man before her. "I'm so sorry," she mumbled as her hand touched his shoulder. At that moment memories that weren't hers, feelings that didn't belong to her, raced through her mind. Electricity felt as if it were running through her veins as the man's abilities became her own. That was three in three days, and as the man dropped down unconscious, Rogue shuddered.

"Good, back to the cell."

The thin metal collar was locked back around her neck and within moments she was being half carried, half dragged back to her room. The former X-Man was shaking when they dropped her onto the floor of her cell, knowing that man probably wouldn't survive.

She couldn't cry, she wouldn't give the guards the satisfaction of knowing they broke her. As the lights went out for the night, Rogue curled up on her hard cot, silently crying herself to sleep.

Long ago she had given up on being saved, hell they had rounded up Logan, what chance did anyone have if he didn't? Her thoughts wandered, in the late hours of the night, to Gambit...Remy. The thought of him calmed her, and she was sure if she concentrated hard enough she could smell that damn leather duster he always wore. A sad smile came to her lips, she didn't even know if he was alive or dead, and with no one to save her, Rogue closed her eyes and tried to drift off to sleep, holding tightly to the thought of Remy in her mind. The smell of his coat, his aftershave, his gloved hand on her face...

Remy paused by the sewer grate. Rogue had been kidnapped. The professor couldn't get a lock on who, but where, that was another story. Logan was the first to try to get her back, It was the logical choice but it made Remy angry. If anyone was going to be there to save the love of his life it should have been him.

He wished he knew who he was up against; Apocalypse, Magneto, or a very well funded mutant hate group. All three would drastically alter his strategy once inside.

Sloughing through the sewers attached to the massive facility a rediculous thought crossed his mind. "I 'ope I don' stink too much when I finally find you 'chere."

Now inside the garrison he stayed to the shadows. Three armed men took a corner and were quickly taken out my his bo staff.

Rounding another corner Remy fiddled with his lock picks and charged a playing card with energy. An ace of hearts.

It was the sound that shocked Rogue from that place between awake and asleep. She had been drifting in and out all night, cries and screams of other mutants keeping her awake. But this sound was different. Something had changed in the facility. As the sound of the explosion reached Rogue, she sat up in bed. Was it just her imagination, or did something feel different?

Who did she know who could make things explode?

Her mind raced through the options, but one stuck out. "No," she spoke softly to herself, "it can't be..." she whispered, but the look on her face was slowly becoming one of happiness.

"Remy..." she spoke breathlessly, her feelings barely contained. But what match was Remy against this place? The men had guns and energy weapons...but Remy, she reminded herself, had more smarts than all of them lumped together. For the first time since she had been captured, Anna Marie allowed a smile to grace her features.

Gambit tossed a playing card sending a squad of guards down the corridor in the opposite direction he was hiding. Knocking two out with his staff and blowing three into a wall with another detonating card he pulled the remaining soldier by the collar of his uniform.

"Beautiful girl, white streak in her hair. Where is she?" His eyes glowed red with the energy he could infuss into anything, not just playing cards.

The guard pointed down the hall.

"See, I knew we could 'andle all 'dis like gentleman." said Remy, patting the soldier on the head before sweeping his leg and knocking him to the ground and into unconsciousness.

Running down the corridor Gambit saw several people, no doubt fellow mutants, locked up in small cells. "'Dat man better not have been lying to try to save his life." Thought Remy, "If so I 'den I WILL kill him."

He scanned the cells for her face, his stomach knotted with concern and hope. Until there she was.

A tear came to Remy's eye. His love was here and very soon she would be safe. Considering Rogue's powers wouldn't allow them to ever touch, ever consummate their feelings, he would just have to delight in fighting out of here at her side.

"Chere!" Gambit cried aloud. "Who did 'dis to you? We will make 'dem pay together, no?"

His voice...

Had she really just heard Remy's voice? She raised her head, sitting up on her bed as his face came into view through the door to her cell. "Remy!" she couldn't believe he was there, right in front of her, and here to save her she had no doubt.

She stood and moved to the door, tears in her eyes. "Ah knew you would come for me. Ah say let's kick some ass." she chuckled as she waited for her door to be opened.

It hit her then, this collar inactivated her powers, the thought of what Remy's lips would feel like on her briefly crossed her mind before she shook her head.

"Ya got anythin' strong that'll cut through steel?" she asked looking to him, pointing to the collar on her neck. Would slicing it off make it unusable? If that was the case, she would need to do something before it was cut off.

"Get me outta here Remy." She pleaded, the thought of kissing him now firmly implanted in her mind. She didn't care if bullets were going to rain down on them, she had waited years to kiss this Cajun and if she had to die doing it, so be it.

Remy embraced his love.

When she mentioned the strange metal collar around her neck he briefly considered blasting it off with another card. "But that might take her neck clean off." he thought.

He pulled out his lock picks and began scratching at the collar with them, looking for a chink or crevice to pry open. But to no avail.

"Sorry 'chere, but for now 'dat 'ting stays on."

Gambit kissed Rogue's gloved hand. He could smell her hair and see her tears. His desire for her welled up and if he didn't know it might kill him he would have planted a deep kiss on those perfect red lips.

Rogue stopped herself from stopping Remy from trying to get her collar off. "Just rememba Remy, ah can't hurt nobody," she reminded him, wondering if he'd get the hint of what she was saying. If he didn't, she knew once they got safe of here she would show him first person how she felt about him, how she felt about him saving her.

"Let's go." She took his hand and they ran down the hall Gambit had just been in. She knew this place like the back of her hand because of her long time there. She wanted nothing more than to kill every single person in this place.

"Do we have somewhere' safe ta go afta here?" she asked as she looked down the halls, seeing the men Gambit had already dispensed of.

Remy listened as Rogue told him not to undo her collar. Was there a tremble in her voice as she said she couldn't harm anyone? He thought he knew just what that tremble might be saying between the lines.

As she took his hand and began to run down the corridor, he reached into his trench coat and pulled out a small pulse gun. Handing it to her her said, "I thought you might need this 'chere. 'eaven knows I prefer other ways of puttin' the 'urt on someone."

Rogue asked him if he knew of a safe place they could flee to. He had just the place in mind. Perhaps there they could celebrate her rescue in some interesting ways. "But of course I do, 'chere. A little cabin in the woods not far from 'ere."

After blasting their way out of the facility and felling many soldiers together they arrived at the cabin. Remy kissed her hand and intoned, "After you mademoiselle."

Gambit flung his trench coat on the bed and stooped to light a small fire. Returning to Rogue he locked his red eyes with her deep brown ones. After an eternal pause he pulled her in close, kissing her. Be smudged his lips against hers his abandon and flashed his tongue into her mouth. Pulling back he said, "I love you 'chere."
