"Do it, or we'll shock you again, you know the routine," the guard growled at the young woman who reached out a tentative hand to the shaking man before her. "I'm so sorry," she mumbled as her hand touched his shoulder. At that moment memories that weren't hers, feelings that didn't belong to her, raced through her mind. Electricity felt as if it were running through her veins as the man's abilities became her own. That was three in three days, and as the man dropped down unconscious, Rogue shuddered.
"Good, back to the cell."
The thin metal collar was locked back around her neck and within moments she was being half carried, half dragged back to her room. The former X-Man was shaking when they dropped her onto the floor of her cell, knowing that man probably wouldn't survive.
She couldn't cry, she wouldn't give the guards the satisfaction of knowing they broke her. As the lights went out for the night, Rogue curled up on her hard cot, silently crying herself to sleep.
Long ago she had given up on being saved, hell they had rounded up Logan, what chance did anyone have if he didn't? Her thoughts wandered, in the late hours of the night, to Gambit...Remy. The thought of him calmed her, and she was sure if she concentrated hard enough she could smell that damn leather duster he always wore. A sad smile came to her lips, she didn't even know if he was alive or dead, and with no one to save her, Rogue closed her eyes and tried to drift off to sleep, holding tightly to the thought of Remy in her mind. The smell of his coat, his aftershave, his gloved hand on her face...
