need a plot twist for a swingers' story

i’ve got the journey planned - the route, fits and starts, roadside stops on a story about 2 couples. one couple is firmly into the swinging scene while, in the other couple, it’s the wife [principal character] who’s had experience of threeways, group, and multiple-men sex. her adventures were during her ‘college years.’ she pulled back from the life after realising it was an addiction and she was getting deeper into the sex. she hasn’t revealed the full extent of what she got up to to her husband.

principal character and her husband are mid-late 30s. swinger couple are: wife = 40 and husband = 47. both couples are white and affluent.

it’s fairly standard in that the swinger couple move into the neighbourhood. meeting them causes resurgent feelings in the principal character. this fires the ignition for her return to the life with her hubby along for the ride. it involves partner swapping [different rooms], then same room swap. inexperienced husband is seduced into sucking cock - as part of the group thing.

what i need is a twist.

ong the story is one thing, but it’s kinda boring without a destination.

where do these four end up?

Two possible outcomes- either they all end up together as mutual friends with benefits or they’re repulsed somehow after the sex is over and they break up. Depends on what story you want to write. Will the main couple’s relationship be revived by swinging because casual relationships with their neighbors remind them they have love with each other? Or maybe the husbands prefer each other’s wife and both marriages break up? Then wives swap on a more permanent basis? Or maybe the wives try bisexuality and end up with each other over the husbands? Or they all stay together as casual friends, but then a wife ends up pregnant with the other man’s kid or an outsider finds out what’s going on and disapproves or tries to join in?

However it goes, I know how you’re feeling. My stories have lately felt boring too, without twists. Casual intimacy alone can only keep your interest so long. I don’t know you, so I can’t recommend a surefire way out of the rut. Think about it. Find what sparks your interest. Good luck.

I’d say for the twist you could go a few ways. Easiest would be for the characters to have pre-existing relationships that one or more characters weren’t aware of.

For example: maybe hubby isn’t as naive or inexperienced with swinging and orgies as wife believes. In fact, maybe he was at said orgies or parties but was visiting the campus, maybe things were just really wild or maybe when he visited they were having a masquerade theme and he fucked her while disguised. In any case he found wife there and fucked her roughly, even called her a cum dumpster, maybe even wrote on her with permanent marker or spanked her raw, thinking he’d never see her again and she was a disposable fucktoy.

They met up after college and hubby either felt guilty about that night or recognized she out that life behind her and has been playing at being a more vanilla lover, never admitting what he did (maybe wife even included his actions in the reasons she quit the lifestyle, upping his guilt)

However once the two couples start swinging, hubby’s hidden side comes out and wife notices he starts showing behavior he’s never seen before. The resolution could be husband coming clean and wife accepting or even telling him there’s nothing to apologize for.

On the otherside: since the other couple is older, maybe the husband in that couple was a teacher or at least an assistant who taught at wife’s university. He already knows her reputation, maybe his wife was one of her upper classmen or sorority sisters. Since he was a younger professor he had a bad habit of pursuing students or going to swinger parties and orgies where students were and wife was the student who slipped away before he got a chance with her.

So now years later, he’s getting a chance to complete his conquest and wife is either okay with it, knowing it has been a fantasy of his, or is okay with him thinking it’s just for the swinging without knowing how obsessed her hubby is.

Of course maybe the wife is interested in the MC, they were close as friends in college but while Wife (MC) was willing to sleep with tons of men, she rebuffed even the slightest sapphic advance, so wife gave up on her, but seeing her now….she wants a piece of her…even if she has to do it under the guise of “well it’s only fair if we want to see the guys go at it”

Destination could be they wind up in a polyamorous relationship: wives love their husbands and each other. Or maybe MC has a pleasant time but can’t return her feelings so they have to call the whole thing off

Of course there could be other twists: maybe one or both wives thought they couldn’t have kids anymore (or hubbies were shooting blanks) and wind up pregnant, but not sure who the father is or what they do.

OT - did you remove the story about the guy and his son having the deep and meaningful conversation at the lake where the father tells the story about how he met the son's mother? is it published 'elsewhere?' THAT was a good story.
