Need a Bourbon expert, please

... To be a bourbon, it must be brewed in Bourbon County, Kentucky. Jack Daniels is brewed in Lynchberg, Tennessee.
..

Thanks, I think. Will just have to get rid of the lowly stuff more quickly now.

Hang on a sec, lemme get this right.

You guys dont have bourbon in cans?

No shit?

All our grog is available in cans, pretty much.
And it's all pretty much crap.
But it's convenient, cheap and easy to whack in the esky ready for the barbie.

Liquor is bottled in the USA. This is something that is just like the movies Silly me, I thought canned bourbon was another of those Australian jokes. Order any kind of alcohol you wish, but they'll serve you Foster's.

Thanks Tess

For enhancing international understanding, but help my misguided vocabulary, please? esky?

Esky

Pure conjecture, but I imagine it's short for Eskimo, which is probably a nickname for Igloo brand beer coolers.

Sorry.

An esky is a portable box type thingiewhatsit for keeping alcohol at a drinking temperature.

Sorry,Tess aint havin a great day.

Has anyone else realised how fucking close it is to Christmas?

Fuck.

That's a bright idea. Right up there with cardboard toilets and steel wool brassieres.

Some things don't need improving.

We dont drink bourbon in cans cos it tastes good.

We drink it in cans cos it's easier to drive with a can than a glass.
Less spillage.

Aussies don't want bourbon that tastes good, they want bourbon with good taste. Or something. *LOL*

I want Christmas drinks in a can. NOW. I'm thinking like cinnamon schnapps in cider, or even just schnapps - very seasonal and festive.

Thanks for explaing the thingamawhatsit, tess. I take it that it's passive, not something which draws power from a cigarette lighter, right? Hey, do you call the things in cars cigarette lighters, or is that another do-jobber with a local/colloquial name?

In NZ we call an esky a chilly bin.

Link to Kiwi Lingo Lexicon

jack isn't a bourbon, not because of where it's stilled, but because of how. a bourbon is defined as a semi-sweet american whiskey (although at some point of sweetness it can be defined as a liquer; such is the case with southern comfort.)
to that end, jim beam and coke is sold in cans in the carolinas (i'm sure ina few other states too.) what's more impressive, it is consistant can to can and is the perfect metered mix of the drink.

Jim is sweeter than Jack.

Tonight however, it is Crown and Cherry Coke!

I've an aunt from London (and now a cousin's married a brit, too, come to think of it) who uses boot when she means trunk not something like alltherage's avatar, and bonnet when she means hood of a CAR not something worn by little girls and southern ladies. She also calls an elevator a lift... all these very familiar words used in ways I have to get used to...

Maybe a spotlight socket before deer season.
Is Christmas a big beach holiday down under?
I guess water skiing is the only kind unless you go to New Zealand, isn't it?

The boot,is at the back of the car and that is where i hide my shopping when i dont want my s/o to know i've been spending.

The bonnet,is where the motor sits apparently.
I never look under there, that's the mans job.

It snowed in Victoria this Christmas,at Falls creek.
Normally we swelter, swim and drink large amounts of alcohol for christmas.
Not this year.
