It is National Teacher Appreciation Week, so appreciate your teachers damn it!

The two teachers I know here, riff and Hamlet, here is one big politically incorrect smooch from me to you in appreciation of what you do every day!

*SMOOCH*

So give your teachers smooches and thanks, they get them too rarely as it is!

Ohh there are lots of teachers!

Thanks.

:)

We would also like a raise.

If your damn pm box was empty, you would have gotten a private raise out of the smooch I tried to send you!

LOL :)

Teachers are walking angels among us.

*smooch*

And an extra hug and kiss for special ed teachers, like Minxie, and my son's wonderful teacher.

And fallon2....

He used to teach and now, has moved up the ladder...as he said...depending upon how you look at it.

*hugs fallon*

Aside from the teachers who frequent Lit, there was once a demented woman who tried to take High School students and teach them to sing. I owe many teachers a great deal, but atop the list is Mary Gay Craig, may she rest in peace.:rose:

Thanks for the extra hug, Ruby, and for starting this thread, GreenEyedGirl- it's nice to know that we really are appreciated by some.

As for my teachers, as much as I tormented them by not listening, talking to my friends, putting on makeup during class, and not doing my homework, they truly made a huge impact on my life. I especially loved my high school English teachers, and my choir teacher.

Friends of mine who are teachers.

YOU ROCK!

From a teacher:

PARENT's. You are the most influential teacher in anyone's life.

Funny, I didn't hear a peep about a national teachers appreciation week on campus today.

Ironic, eh?

Christ should I feel insulted that no one remembers that I am a teacher too? Boo Hoo.

LK has given me a great idea, we need to smooch the Lit teachers, but we should also honor the teachers we have had in our lives that help to shape us into who we are today.

The one teacher who helped me was my high school literature teacher. He handed me my first Vonnegut at the tender age of 13 and told me to think. He inspired me then, and still does now. He showed me that acceptable was not enough.

So thank you sir, you made a difference in (at least) me.

Big hug of thanks to all the teacher's out there who helped shaped my life, some by showing me the value of their subject, some by showwing their passion, some by showing me my self worth, and a few for letting me know the definition of true human evil. Thank you all!

And a special  out there to all the female teachers and teachers to be at Lit.

Ironic? No. Pathetic. I heard it on NPR this morning on my way into work, and I actually posted a note to myself to remember to post this when I got home tonight. (memory gets feeble after 30).

There were more than a few. Of course - they all had an influence to some extent on me - especially in the "formative" years.

I had one professor in grad school - when I was getting my Master of Music degree - who was both a friend and a mentor. He really took the time not only to teach me but to help me find my own "voice," to encourage me, and to provide me with professional contacts. I'm still in touch with him. A great guy. A fantastic teacher.

What a nice thread! Even though I'm not really known well on here, I thought I'd add that I, too am a teacher.. Just wanted to say thanks on behalf of other teachers. It brings a smile to my face reading warm thoughts that you all have about teachers. Unlike riff's campus, mine was full of thoughtful messages today from both parents and students. The very best feeling in my professional life is when former students come back and tell me positive things about their experiences in my classroom. Makes it all worthwhile. I would encourage all of you to send a note of thanks to any teacher you may have had that touched your life. You'd be surprised at how much it would mean to them.

Thanks to all of you who remembered.

There was a mention of Teacher Appreciation Week at my school today. We were supposed to have breakfast sponsored by the PTA. Maybe it will be there tomorrow.

I was a "mean" teacher today, i'm gonna try to be "the best teacher in the world" again tomorrow.

I learned more from the ones who kept the class well in hand. On the whole I don't think any of them ever set out to be mean, but I find teachers are almost like human beings with that whole "having a bad day" thing.
