So our next contest is coming up.

National Nude Day? Does this mean I have to write an exhibitionist/voyeur story? Anyone have any brainstorms on how to write a story for this contest without writing that category? I'm sleepy or I might be able to think of one.

No, you can write a story about nudists )who don't think of nudity as sexual.)

You can write a romantic story about a couple who stay at home for national nude day

You can write a BDSM story about a naughty sub who has earn the right to wear clothes again.

You can write a Skinny-dipping story about young love at the swimming hole for the First-time category (or about youth revisited for the Mature category.)

There are thousand of options to fit almost any category. Avoiding the Ex/Voy ctegory might give you a better chance of winning, too.

Perpetual Friendship

Shortly after the French Revolution, France and the US agreed to perpetual friendship.

I have a original contemporary newspaper (Gazette Nationale, ou Le Moniteur Universel dated Octidi 28 Fructidor, l'an 2 de la Republique Francaise or 14 July 1794) reporting the session of the Convention Nationale of 25 Fructidor.

A US Naval officer, Captain Barnery, brought a letter from James Monroe to the Convention and a US flag which was to hang side by side with the French flag when the Convention was in session (as the French flag was to hang side by side with the US flag when Congress was in session) "to witness the union and friendship which should exist eternally between the two peoples" and the flag was made in the style recently agreed by Congress.

"Please accept this flag, Citizen President, as a new token of the sensibility with which the American People always recognises the proofs of interest and friendship which they give to good and brave allies ... and to consolidate the union and concord between the two Nations".

My translations of 18th Century French as written by an American.

What happened to perpetual friendship and union? Where is the US flag in the French Parliament? Where is the French flag in Congress?

I'll stick to Bastille Day.
