How can you tell if someone deliberately voted you down (several times within a short span of each other)? Why would anyone bother??

You can tell that you've been voted down if you've been following your votes closely - like about an hour apart.
For example, if your vote average is 4.05 and the no. of votes cast are 21 then your vote total will be (4.05 multiplied by 21) 85.05. Now if your vote count increases by 1 to 22 and the vote average turns to 4.00, then you can know that the last vote was a 3 (by 4 multiplied by 22 = 88 and 88-85.05=3)
This way you can know if you have been voted down if there are a lot of 1s and if you keep checking your votes. You cannot tell who voted you down.
Why would anyone bother... well, there are SO many theories about that floating around here. To win a contest, jealousy, to knock of a red H, religious fundamentalism, dislike of a particular category being a few.
Or did you mean why would anyone bother to check whether they've been voted down or not? To this, votes matter. Who doesn't like appreciation and a high vote average?

It must be my imagination, but the two votes are no longer listed????
I checked them out because I got feedback (nice), and also have a story pending, and after scouting the forum, I went back about 1/2 hr later to refresh, and my story had received 2 votes and dropped about .10! I will try refreshing again later.
