It's nasty, awful comments like this that take the fun out of submitting stories to this site. If you don't like my story, then move on, no one is forcing you to read it. I really feel sorry for horribly unhappy people like this, they must hate themselves and everything in life.

Wrong category, moron. Non erotic has its own section.

I mean, seriously, did you really think this bullshit is erotic? A barrel of chopped up cow parts is more erotic than this offal

Par for the course I'm afraid. Though there is plenty of good feedback to be found here if you're willing to wade through the bullshit.

Keep doing your thing, and don't let the riff-raff get to you. :D

OK, but you just made Kcmova85's day, I think, to have been upset enough to bring this to the discussion board. If you'd just deleted it and Kcnova85 had come back to see how much of a rise they got out of you, it probably would be Kcnova85 who would be deflate to see that they were just quietly disappeared.

This sucks. Please don't listen to crap-comments like this. There's a lot of guys on here with their dicks in their hand, foaming at the mouth for the "good parts". Just write how you write.

Or it pisses them off and they start stalking you...
It's best to just ignore people like this I think.
And if their comment is BS they only make themselves look ridiculous anyway.

I don't think stories with no sex in them should be in anything other than non-erotic. but still, it was not necessary to be that much of an asshole about it.

Unfortunately that's the thing about internet comments, it allows anybody to behave as badly as they want without consequences because they do so anonymously.

The best thing you could do is to ignore the, if you respond it can lead to problems. I once responded to someone who made an ignorant comment on one of my stories and that guy just started harassing me for weeks afterwards. It eventually stopped, but it was very annoying. After that I learned to just ignore them and just delete their comments if I think they're going to far.

If the story in question is the OP's most recent, then a) it's in LW, so surprise! there's a nasty comment, b) it looks like it will be chapter one in a longer story, and c) it may contain fetish elements that the author regards as sex that the commenter does not; I haven't read it.

Stories without sex can go into a number of places, especially if they're just a chapter. I have a fairly short, essentially non-erotic, standalone story in SF&F that the readers appreciate.

But you don't always need sex in a story to make it erotic. That's often the point, with erotica.

The person who left that comment used proper grammar, and although nasty, it was coherent.

A literate LW reader.

Not just literate, but left an e-mail you could reply to, which shows some backbone.

This person is a unicorn in that readership.

To the OP

You need to remove that person's e-mail address, its against the rules.

I've received my share of vicious, nasty, completely awful, scatological, brain-dead, and depraved comments.

I have never let those comments take away from the pleasure I have of writing stories here. If I have one positive comment and one negative comment, I ignore the negative one, unless it provides me useful feedback for the writing of future stories.

Too often, writers focus on that one bad comment, and they don't focus on the good one.

To be a writer, you need a thick skin. Period. There's no way around it. Some people are going to hate what you do and that absolutely is not a good reason to get down or want to throw in the towel. Focus on what you want to do and focus on the positive and the useful feedback you get. Take a humorous attitude toward the crap. Recite the Serenity Prayer several times a day, and immediately before you log on to Literotica.

I have several stories now with no sex in them in various categories. Surprisingly, they are my highest rated. There may be a message to me in that!

LOL. Reply and tell him that he must be psychic since your next story is about a literotica member getting frisky with a bucket of chopped up cow parts!

I just started writing but have quickly found that some people have REALLY specific turn-offs that are impossible to predict and will gleefully let you know in comments/feedback. Maybe address it in an author's note at the beginning of future stories? (for example: Note: this story is the first in a series so there is lots of erotica but no actual "sex" yet) Won't stop all the negative comments but might help.

I just realized, that guy may have either left you a fake email to respond to or an email to set someone else up to get these responses.

I've received a number of complaints that my longer stories don't belong on Literotica at all, even when they contain extremely explicit sex scenes, because they're not stroke stories. For example:

> This is without a doubt the worst sex story I've read here in a long time. Maybe go write for harlequin, but fuck right off out of literotica.

Some people just can't help themselves, they have expectations, and when you fail those, they resort to hate and must loudly let you know. It sucks, but that's just how it is.

Give yourself the satisfaction that the losers who just want stroke are two-strokes. All over in thirty seconds, and they still have to cut the grass.

I don't think stories with no sex in them should be in anything other than non-erotic.

Most internet sites use "category" and "tags," but they also need "type."

Non-Erotic is a type of story that can appear in any of the categories (subgenres).

Your story might get major criticism. Ask yourself why. Did you pick the wrong category? Or did the story not make sense?
I have had feedback from many who only read certain categories and want stories that fit a mold.
Personally i like a story that has a logical or at least semi logical progression. the reader might not agree.

I can't agree with this either. I have a couple in progress without sex (nudity, though, and a stripper in one to boot) that I would call "adult" that don't, in my opinion, fit well in the NonErotic category; I'd just as soon put them in Romance. Conversely, I also have a mostly non erotic with a very discreet not-particularly-consensual scene that just won't fit in Reluctant/Nonconsent; the readers in that category would be pretty damned disappointed. That one's done but I am taking my time to decide to put it NE and hope for the best or to intensify a couple of the sex references and develop them into full-on sex scenes.

Its the difference between erotica and porn, erotic can be mental and emotional as much as physical, where as porn is just the physical act.

But I think even though this is LitEROTICA many stories here are pretty much porn in word form and that's what many readers have come to expect.

I don't think stories with no sex in them should be in anything other than non-erotic. but still, it was not necessary to be that much of an asshole about it.

There then we come to the definition of sex.

I suspect yours is rather narrow. Alternatively, one could take hint from the site's publishing rules, especially those regarding underage characters for compliance or family members for categorizing incest. Those define sex in the most broad sense imaginable. Seeing anyone nude is sex by the sites rules, for instance. Talking about explicitly, as well. Kinks and fetishes are sex.

So, a "non-erotic" story would have to be with absolutely no nudity, no flirt, no discernible kink or fetish, nor any discussion of any of that. Not even an innuendo.

On the other hand, by the most narrow definition of sex, there probably shouldn't be a story containing sex in the lesbian category. Because there's simply no way two women could possibly have sex, they lack certain body parts. And using toys isn't sex either, nor is masturbation. And of course the premise of voyeur/exhibitionist category isn't about sex at all, nor is a great deal of fetish stories.

So, does a story have erotic content is indeed in the eye of beholder, but the author is in a bit privileged spot. That a reader fail to see how, let's say, legal language about tattoo tax, or mathematical expressions proving dominant nature of futanary genetics lead to erotic consequences is their problem.

Three stories in and none were complete

I’m a returning member. Im shocked to find the last three stories I’ve read were all incomplete. None of them were titled with an additional part number. Has the site degenerated to a cheap version of a once grand oganization. Where do I type in my credit card number to get the rest of the story?

Just ignore criticism if it's not constructive. Some people are toxic and self-loathing...I find it funny that they get so pissed off that they will take the time to leave a mean comment. Look at YouTube or IG, plenty of assholes out there. Glad I'm not them.
