Does anyone think Nancy Pelosi trip to Italy last week was worthless? How can she condemn the CEO’s for private jets when she took a contracted 737 to fly herself and 10 other democrats to Italy (the operating cost is $10,000/hour and it’s a 20 hour flight one way)? She is just as clueless as the CEO’s only she has tax payer money…well then again I guess so does the BIG 3.

On her trip CNN reported a private meeting with the pope, private tours in museums and art galleries. What value did America gain from this $500,000-1,000,000 trip?

Grrrrrr

No, I don't think that Nancy Pelosi's trip to Italy last week was worthless. Letting her come back; that would be worse than worthless. JMHO.

Pelosi is a sign, like Obama's half-baked stimulus (we really wanted consensus) package and Hillary's banal " North and South Korea should have a dialogue" (they already do) , that the new bunch of idiots running the asylum are pretty much as abysmal as the last lot.

I would have gone for O but the early signs are not encouraging.

I certainly didn't benefit from it, and I doubt that anybody else did, except the people involved. This is a case of members of Congress thinking of themselves as being exempt from the rules that should apply to mere mortals.

Would I be gauche if I commented on the silence that accompanies Republicans doing the same thing?

Or when judgments are rushed to (looking for scapegoats) without bothering to check out what the congressional delgation did in wherever "Itality" is? Supposed to hunker down on our own continent and not consult with anyone else in the world. Is that it?

So you think that congressional business is somehow controlled by the executive branch? Suggest a bit of remedial reading on the structure/functions of U.S. government.

I'm all for it! I think most of those in DC are in fantasy land....its about time that people started to stand up and demand some real change....

what is the end result most of us pay in taxes (Property, federal income tax, state income tax, city income tax(?), sales tax, tangible tax, taxes on investments...this tax…that tax)? I'm guessing some of us are in the 50-60%?

I actually got off my butt today and wrote 3 congressmen and one congresswoman.

No you'd be the honest one!;)

Please post away!

Alleviating your ignorance would require a signifigant lifestyle change on your part - specifically, balancing your diet of right wing propaganda with other, more balanced sources. Are you sure you're up for that?

On the issue of taxes, we will soon discover the value of the services that taxes provide when cutbacks at the state level start to affect us personally. How would you feel about a 12 hour wait at the emergency room? Hopefully, you won't have to find out.

Are you cool with single mothers losing their subsidized day care, so that they are faced with either A. sending their children to perverts for day care B. taking their children to work with them, C. not working and becoming homeless. Not everyone is in a 60% tax rate. You really need to get a clue.

Do you like the idea of a two hour response time if you're being raped in an alley and you've managed to dial 911 while your perpetrator stopped to light a cigarette?

If you're looking for something to write your congressman about, google "corporate welfare". I think you'll find our government has pissed away more money in that direction than any other.

Good luck on your quest for knowledge.

Pelosi getting the Church's teachings and stance on life issues by the Pope made it almost worthwhile. Nothing like a dressing down by the big guy. :D
Notice there are no official pictures of that event?

There are many other psuedo Catholics in Washington that need the same treatment.

I'm sure that she made a very nice 'donation' to the church...just so she can take communion...after all her divorces don't count nor does her stand on abortion...and all of the other wonderful things she stands for...

Humm maybe she thinks she can buy her way into heaven.

You got a citation on the content of Pelosi's discussion with the Pope--or are you pulling this from where the sun don't shine?

She got her "Duties as a Catholic Legislator" explained very clearly. Something is going to happen soon. I think the Church is going to enfoce the rules on the public action making one ineligable for the Eucharist.

Again. Citation of meeting transcript, please. Otherwise this is malicious libel, isn't it?

Look, it's simple. Start from the a priori assumption that liberals are evil. Or at the very best, stupid. Every thing falls into place after that. ;)

I think they should have to pay for all trips like these, out of pocket !
Theirs, not ours.

Okay. If you agree that CEOs and all other employees of a company pay for their trips from their pockets and not the stockholders.

Plus, by 'they' I'm assuming you're speaking of all legislators and not just the Democrats. Because as I've already noted I've heard nothing but silence on Republicans doing the same thing.

I don't think it's fair to say that ALL liberals are evil or even stupid. Some of them may be misguided. That really depends on the degree of their liberalness.

They do have to, unless they can prove that the trip was a genuine business expense. Especially when the trip is as expensive as this one was.

Absolutely, all politicians. Were all of them on this trip Dems? That sounds awfully partisan. All politicians should have to prove that a junket was on legitimate government business in order to have it paid for.

No one said there was a transcript. No reporters were permitted in the meeting. The Vatican's take is here and you will note that in her press conference later, she completely avoided the issue.

Makes no wash to me. My beef with the Speaker is that she is an ineffective and vindictive politician with no agenda but self promotion. The Pope is as big a fool as she is.
