Would you like to go thru life as
Josephine???
could be worse....
My Mom seriously thought of
Bertha....
Nora said:There was a thread on this last week, or there abouts. You might have some luck doing a search on the word 'names'.
I assume you're asking for a story, and not cuz you wanna name a kid Svetlana or something.
I think the traditionally sexy (usually Frenchified) names are trite. The Yvettes, Moniques, Nicoles, etc are pretty annoying to me. On the other hand, am I your desired audience? Probably not.
I really don't notice names that much while I'm reading unless they're particularly annoying or strike me as unique in some way. I love the juxtiposition of an old fashioned name like Beatrice, Emily or Eugenia being attached to a modern, sexual woman.
But like I said, I'm not likely to be the target audience.

Nora said:Josephine is one of my favorite names ever. And I don't think anyone could deny that one of the most famous Josephines (Miz Baker, to you) is one of the sexiest women who ever lived.
My gramma was named Bertha. But she was a teeny-tiny little bird-like woman. Although a bitch on wheels. *shrug*

really? I didn't know that about the name Rhea... wasn't Naomi in a myth about a weaver who boasted to much, and the gods turned her into a spider? LOL - sorry, hijack!
watergirl said:Ahhh, that's right, thank you Nora...
Niobe means tears, I seem to recall. I love the myth of Narcissus, and Echo and the smell of those flowers... it's heaven.
Wow, high school Greek mythology class, back to haunt me.
<grin>
watergirl said:Hmmm... I can't remember that one. Our teacher was an ice queen, but somewhat of a pushover. We watched some movies, did some strange projects...
Anyway, I'm headed to bed - night!
