What female names do you think are sexy/hot and what names do you dislike.

Thanks.

Definetly not mine....

Would you like to go thru life as

Josephine???

could be worse....

My Mom seriously thought of

Bertha....:(

There was a thread on this last week, or there abouts. You might have some luck doing a search on the word 'names'.

I assume you're asking for a story, and not cuz you wanna name a kid Svetlana or something.

I think the traditionally sexy (usually Frenchified) names are trite. The Yvettes, Moniques, Nicoles, etc are pretty annoying to me. On the other hand, am I your desired audience? Probably not.

I really don't notice names that much while I'm reading unless they're particularly annoying or strike me as unique in some way. I love the juxtiposition of an old fashioned name like Beatrice, Emily or Eugenia being attached to a modern, sexual woman.

But like I said, I'm not likely to be the target audience.

Josephine is one of my favorite names ever. And I don't think anyone could deny that one of the most famous Josephines (Miz Baker, to you) is one of the sexiest women who ever lived.

My gramma was named Bertha. But she was a teeny-tiny little bird-like woman. Although a bitch on wheels. *shrug*

LOL....

True Josephine Baker was exceptional....

I probably dislike it mostly because I share it with my Dad's sister... who I don't like... you can't pick your relatives...

My grandmother was also Hell on Wheels... I miss the heck outta of her...

My grandmas - Naomi and Rhea (said Ria, and I prefer that spelling, for some reason...)

I don't like the trendy popular teenage names - Britney and such.

Sexy girl names??? Never thought of names as sexy, it's the people they are attached to.

My gramma wasn't the type you miss, ssk. *grins* But yeah, I can understand disliking your own name, especially if it's shared with a family member you can't stand. Im not fond of my name, but more because it's just awful! lol

watergirl, I LOVE the name Naomi! And Rhea's cool. She's the mother of the universe, afterall. ;)

*ick*

My ex sister in law has the name Eugenia, and trust me you would never make the mistake of believing her to be a modern sexual woman. lmao

I've been giggling since I read that.. trying to picture her in that light.

I don't put a lot of focus on names when writing a story, because as a reader I don't really care what their names are. lol

But I have perused baby name books to get some tips. :)

you can find one by doing a search on google.

Nora -

really? I didn't know that about the name Rhea... wasn't Naomi in a myth about a weaver who boasted to much, and the gods turned her into a spider? LOL - sorry, hijack!

I hate having the name Michelle. Not that I hate the name, just having it. I like the names: Lacey, Samantha, Alexandra. I tend to use some when I am being erotically anonymous.

Yah, in Greek mythology Rhea was Kronos's wife and the mother of most of the Greek Pantheon. She's the one who wrapped up a stone and gave it to Kronos to eat so he wouldn't munch on Zeus for breakfast. Kronos had a fear of being overthrown by his kids, so he snacked on them instead. Of course, ol' Zeusy-babe ended up doing just that.

Naomi was Ruth's mother-in-law in the Old Testiment. You might be thinking of Niobe in Greek mythology. She was another one who got uppity and pissed off the wrong goddess (Leto, in this case, who sent her own kids to kill Niobe's. Nice people they were!).

The weaver-turned-spider was Arachne. Poor thing.

Ahhh, that's right, thank you Nora...

Niobe means tears, I seem to recall. I love the myth of Narcissus, and Echo and the smell of those flowers... it's heaven.

Wow, high school Greek mythology class, back to haunt me.

<grin>

You're welcome. I'm just a font of useless knowledge tonight. ;)

I had this British biker-chick with a doctorate in classics who taught my mythology class in college. She rocked. I guess it stuck, though.

My favorite of the greek myths is probably Hephaestus's reaction to figuring out Aphrodite was screwing around on him with Ares. *smirks* Jealous men are so cute! :D

Hmmm... I can't remember that one. Our teacher was an ice queen, but somewhat of a pushover. We watched some movies, did some strange projects...

Anyway, I'm headed to bed - night!

g'night!! Btw, I keep meaning to tell you that I love your av!!

(Hephaestus overheard Aphrodite making an "appointment" with Ares, so he fashioned a wire net that would come down and trap them when the house started rockin'. *smirks* The more Ares tried to fight his way out, the more tangled they got in the net. Handy men are a joy! *grins*)
