A new show began this week on Channel 4 - one of the UK's mainstream TV channels. It is billed as being the dating show that begins where other dates might end - naked.
The show starts with the person looking for a date - clothed - faced by six potential candidates who are naked but standing in screened pods. The screens are then raised to reveal everything below their waists. No pixelation, no blurring - the full works. The person looking for the date then has to choose one to be eliminated from the contest. The screens are then raised to chest height and another has to be eliminated. Finally, the screens are removed completely. The elimination process continues until only two are left. At this point, the person looking for the date has to strip off too before making their final choice.
This week's contestants were two girls, Aina and Mal. Aina was looking for someone adventurous, while bisexual Mal was curious to see if she'd be drawn to a man or a woman when both options were laid bare before her. Interestingly, although she said that she preferred men, she short-listed two women.
The programme came up with some interesting preferences. Aina was surprised that guys should want to shave or trim their pubic hair. She said that she had given up waxing - 'it doesn't define who I am' - and when she stripped off she showed that she also had underarm hair, which clearly appealed to both of the short-listed men.
