Some people have very odd cultures. If you've heard of this one before now, pleace comment on how/when/why and of course what you all thought :) !?

I was talking to a friend of mine, and wanted to know if I was going to join this weirdo culture, and then I explained to him what it was... he wasn't very positive about it at all, and proceeded to call it stupid and I told him that I was suprised he didn't know what I was talking about, and then he proceeded to ask his friends about it (we're both on our last legs of college) who also didn't know, and then proceeded to insult my school, its teaching etc... heh, this is why we stoped dating so long ago, but it made me wonder how many others haven't seen/heard something like this before.

enjoy and share :)

I had a teacher read this to us in a college class. :D So I already know it, but I won't ruin it for everyone else!

'Fraid I lost interest

... right after the, ""the ritual consists of inserting a small bundle of hog hairs in the mouth, along with certain magical cremes, and then moving the bundle in a highly formalized series of gestures"" Part.

I would perform "ritualistic gesticulations" with the pubic hair of some SOW in my mouth too!

Next Question.

But don't it make you wonder about some folk....

hehe, hog hairs... at least that is what they were made of, now the Nacirema people use different tools for the cause.

I also called my parents when this came up for the first time, and told them I was going to go to the Nacirema people and study them and live there, and it gave them quite a start until I think it was my younger brother was looking at it spelt out and started laughing...

I thought it sounded farmiliar than i clicked the link and i saw the "body rituals of the.." part and i was like OH SNAP.

I had to read that article for intro to anthropology. I loved it.

I, too, had to read it for anthropology class in highschool.

Man, that was an amusing class. Got kicked out of 7th period more than once for winning a debate against the teacher.

It's an amazing look into that culture though. My friend Amy and I started giggling hysterically halfway through when we read it in class. Everyone looked at us like we were crazy. And then when we had to explain to them what the culture really was, they all glared.

*sigh*
back to genealogy photo scanning.

I really need to find my family tree work... it's SOMEWHERE on this computer, I SWEAR.
