The following comments and questions were asked in another thread, but since I felt it was a little off-topic, I thought I'd start a new one here...
"hotscribe,
I am new to this board. So pweeze dont be mean.
I am curious to know what interests you in mythology and its erotic subtext. Personally, I feel that erotic writers havnt explored this genre as well as they might have. There is great potential in this genre. The original mythologies allude to so much sexuality, in its lucidity, its romantic form, in its couplings etc.
I want to know your thoughts for currently I am writing my own erotic novel based on a famous mythology. It will be my first attempt at this type of writing. I would very much appreciate some writing tips from a veteran like yourself.
I am attempting to marry romantic, pornographic and mythological writing."
Hi!
Thanks for your interest in my writing.
I've always had an interest in mythology, and quite frankly, discovered the sensuous part of it as a teenager while looking at various paintings and sculptures that depicted scenes from Greek myths. I got quite turned on by them.
However, it wasn't until much later when I started to write erotica that I decided to try to blend both topics. However, in so doing, I wanted to try and keep the sensuousness of the myth without getting excessively pornographic. And I also wanted to keep the historical "feel" through the language I used.
I think I managed to do this with my Erotic Tales of Mythology I and II.
Some tips? Retell the tale in your own way, but try to avoid using "modern day" terms (i.e. cock, cunt, fuck, etc) to describe anatomy and sexual acts. Read the myths [Bullfinch's, etc] and maybe some Shakespeare in order to try to keep that mythological/historical feel in your writing.
At least, that's what I would do.
