April sighed, looking at Austin. "Just stop it." She said simply, her hand on the back of his neck to still him. "For once in your life you get confirmation that not only are you not useless but actually are special and THIS is how you react?" She shook her head, "I can't do or say anything to prove to you how this is bigger than you, than all of us, now." She stood, "Do you think we're not scared? Every one of us could fuck things up for everybody. But, not trying could be more disastrous than any mistake. We're stuck in this, all of us. We can embrace it, do our best, and hope it works out or we could...do whatever the hell that is, there...." She kissed the top of his head then said, "Fix that wall before day's end whatever you choose. That's an order. I know what I choose. I'm going to Med Bay. I want my new life. I like these people and I like the opportunities for adventure and community this situation brings so I plan to give it my all. I'm going to Med Bay so I'm not late for my first assignment. I hope I'll see you there."

Then, she walked out of her room hoping some of what she said would sink in. Austin exhaustion had kicked in and she needed to go someplace else to calm down. Med Bay for training would be just fine, as far as April was concerned. She could lead a horse to water but couldn't make it drink. He had to decide to put their needs ahead if his self doubt himself.

After a moment Austin stood up, thinking about what April had said. He tried to wipe his blood off the wall, but he mostly just smeared it around more. "Later." He thought before leaving the room and quickly catching up to April. He looked at her for a moment before finally saying, "sorry. Thanks for looking out for me. I know I'm not easy to deal with, and I love you." Austin said quietly, before hugging April. After a moment he let go and sighed. "Lets get this training over with, I guess." Austin said looking nervously towards the med bay.

Thankfully, Rapid Education for the others went off without a hitch. They all completed their courses within the expected amount of time and with above average success, even Austin, who'd seemed irritated by the whole process of being hooked up to the machines at first but he settled in after the first quarter hour.

Many of those left behind in quarters were tired from the events of the day before and lounged around reading, watching old films, napping. The day passed peacefully.

Kate used her ear com to order a debriefing at 18:30 hour, over dinner. She thought it would be nice if they reported on the past few days to the rest of the crew in an informal gathering at first, hence dinnertime.

David and Kate were the first to arrive at the dinner table. They were soon followed by Aziz and Yuet. Then Austin and April arrived, Austin looking broody as usual, but otherwise normal. David was suprised that there had been no incident with the normally problematic teen. He chalked it down to a problem he didn't hear about. The last to arrive were Erik and Natalia, both of them dripping with water. "My jarl, you look fersome today." Erik said bowing low to Kate. He straightened up and his eyes widened. "I mean, hello Kate." Natalia just sighed in frustration. "He keeps thinking he's a viking. Tried to build a boat." She walked to Erik and forced him into a seat. "So my illustrious jar... I mean Kate. What's this meet about?" Erik asked looking at everyone gathered at the table.

Kate grew concerned fast. "Erik is hallucinating?" She asked Natalia. "Has anyone else experienced hallucinations?" Kate asked, addressing the entire group now.

Yuet chimed in, "Hallucinating a side effect. So is headaches or dizzy. Last night, Aziz call me for pain reliever."

Aziz, ever mindful of avoiding impropriety, added,"I had a headache and she gave me acetaminophen. Not a big deal. I haven't had hallucinations. Besides, I had an allergic reaction to the process. They'd pumped me full of all sorts of anti allergic drugs to get me through the rapid education process. I'm not surprised to be sleepy and headachy coming off of the stuff." He explained.

Yuet nodded, "True." She said. "Temporary hallucination state can occur afterward. It go away in a day or so. Erik not an unusual case."

"It's not as if I invited her into my room to spend the night. She simply gave me an injection and left." Murmured Aziz, self conscious.

Yuet blushed at the memory of Aziz in pajama bottoms without a shirt on. He had nicely toned arms and noticeable stomach muscles, "six pack", Americans called it. He hadn't been aware of how much of that she'd taken in. Yuet had the moment memorized. He'd looked incredibly good shirtless...

Kate just raised her eyebrows at the unspoken sexual tension obviously forming between Aziz and Yuet and instead returned to Erik and his problem. "What kinds of hallucinations, Erik?"

Erik stood up, ignoring Kate, and walked to Aziz slapping the smaller man on the back. "There's no need to be shy friend!" Erik said loudly. "If Odin himself hadn't sent me the most beautiful Valkyrie in his charge, I'd count myself lucky to be with that temptress." Erik said pointing to Yuet. He went over to Yuet, obviously still in his viking world, and grabbed the young woman. He wasn't rough with her, but he wasn't gentle either. He pushed Yuet into Aziz's lap with a wide smile. "Thank me later friend." Erin winked at Aziz, thinking his loud and brash manner subtle. Erik made his way back to his seat when he stopped, frozen in place as a MeRP glided into the room. "MARAUDERS!" Erik shouted at the top of his lungs, picking up a fork from the table and wielding it like a sword. "I'll protect you my jarl!" He shouts running towards the hovering robot. "Oh my!" The MeRP exclaims before quickly exiting the room, with a furious Erik wielding a fork behind it.

Natalia and April couldn't keep themselves from laughing.

Yuet and Aziz looked positively mortified as they froze for a moment, two rabbits facing the same hunter' s barrel. They stared wide eyed into each other's faces before self consciousness forced them to begin the awkward process of extracting Yuet from Aziz's lap and arms. She climbed off of him and dreamily returned to her own seat, hiding her warm face with a hand as she stared down into her breakfast bowl. Aziz, clearing his throat and shifting awkwardly in his chair afterward.

Kate felt sympathy for the shy pair. She hushed April and Nat' s tittering. "Ladies, please!"

The laughter quietened down and Yuet moved to rise from the table to look for her brand new medical bag. "Maybe I have something to make Erik sleep if hallucinations don't stop soon. But, since he chasing a MeRP he likely to receive that from them soon anyway."

Erik's shouting as well as a series of loud clangs could be heard from the hallway. A moment later, a dented MeRP with a fork stuck in its side floated into the dining area. "Erik Hegg has been sedated and restrained to his bed. He will regain conciousness in roughly thirty minures. Please refrain from any violent behavior on the ship, and have a pleasant day." The MeRP said before floating off. "Well, that was certainly interesting." David said chuckling. "Can we continue the meeting without him, or should we wait for Erik?" David asked Kate.

Kate repressed a chuckle at the sight. When she did this her dimple became apparent on her left cheek. She eyed the two women who had succumbed once more to the very same urge and they settled down. Then, Kate waved her right hand. "I think we can begin without Erik this one time. We'll catch him up later. I just wanted to catch up with everyone, find out how the training has been, and then I can tell you a bit about what we can be expecting in the coming week."

April began, "I enjoyed the training. It was odd being all hooked up to the computer that way at first but once I started paying attention to all the...the information...wow! It was intense! I feel about a hundred percent more clever and knowledgeable than I felt this morning."

Natalia shrugged, "It was ok. I was happy with the material and the extra stuff learned. It's truly exhausting, though! I did have a bit of a headache when it was finished but eating and drinking has mostly made it go away."

Yuet smiled, "I basically a doctor now. I can't complain about that! That's great! Kate is my very first patient." She announced proudly.

Kate patted David's hand with her good one. "Yes, Yuet, and you got to give me my life changing news. Thank you for that."

"I'm sorry we couldn't tell you..." began Natalia but Kate waved it off, "It's ok. I understand why the a.I. on the ship made you wait."

April asked softly, "Keeping it?"

Kate looked at David and slowly smiled at his encouraging nod. "Yes, we're keeping it." She stated. Sensing the mood shifting, Kate quickly changed topic back to the training. "Austin, how was it for you? Any problems with training?"

Austin took a moment to think before he spoke, something he didn't normally do. "I feel different. Like the new training split my mind in two. It's hard to describe, really." He shrugged, not mentioning the fact that everyone at the table looked like some kind of monster, except for Kate and April, who instead appeared to be tortured and dying. He took a sip of his beer and shook his head. "And I haven't had any hallucinations, I'm fine." He said watching the room contort into a strange black forest of scorched trees and smoking piles of bones and bodies.

April watched Austin carefully. He seemed so calm. Something was off but she hoped it was just that the training had helped balance out some of his imbalances. She guessed that was probably the feeling Kate was having as well while watching Austin calmly talk in his raspy voice. There was a beat of hesitation in the meeting before Kate moved it forward.

"Alright. Good. If everything is not feeling more normal with the headaches and hallucinations by tomorrow morning I'd like any of you still experiencing problems to go to Yuet or the MeRPs for assistance. I'll be busy learning the command station on the bridge much of tomorrow. Friday we have a whole crew training exercise, a simulated landing drill. If that doesn't go well the weekend will include extra drills at random. If the first drill is without many problems we get the weekend off before the big day. We should be in range of the planet and ready for drop off on Monday. Yes, Monday...Ready or not, cushy life of luxury ends then so enjoy the easy meals and unlimited books now."

Kate continued, "From what I know about the planet, we'll have little in the way of luxuries. The colony there is set up in five islands. Three populated by handfuls of humans, two are by a race of aliens I told you about. The humans and cousin race help each other in building, farming, milling, commerce and the only time they do their own thing is in educating of children over twelve. That's when it seems the Cousins prefer their children to combine home schooling with a one on one tutor and an internship or apprenticeship while the Human children continue on at the public school to about age seventeen and take up further education or apprenticeship later. But, otherwise, we would do best to get used to these aliens because everyone in the colony cooperates with every one, including them. The entire colony. Alien and Human populations combined, is about eight hundred-thirty people of all ages. They're anticipating at least ten people from this drop. With the cryogenically frozen, we're eleven. Including Adrianna, we're an even dozen. Although there's only a small population of merfolk for her...still, she'll be presented to them in the ocean. I've been told they've begun clearing some land on the island they call "Infinity" on the top of a hill overlooking the village of Infinity, near a small lake. We're getting ten acres cleared for our drop off. The living quarters remain on the ship, medical too. At drop time, everyone must be in the designated place on the bridge. I'll be landing a small, detachable bridge section big enough for us eight. Then, I'll remotely pilot the domed park, farm, library, and laboratory. Those are our gift to Infinity to share with our new island (although, the farm is ours) Adrianna shall remain in the lake in the domed park until after drop. Someone can escort her to the beach to find her people once we've been dropped off. Any questions?"

Austin wouldn't have noticed the pause, or looks of concern before his training, but now it seemed obvious to him. April and Kate had both noticed something about him was off. "I'll just play it off as fatigue from the training." Austin thought as he listened to Kate's speech, doing his best to ignoring the blood bubbling from the woman's lips. "It's not real." Austin kept repeating in his head even as Kate continued to bleed from various wounds from all over her body. Austin waited patiently for Kate to finish her briefing, his body calm and relaxed while his mind reeled with terror. After she finished Austin shook his head, his vision returning to normal. "I don't have any questions, and if no one minds, I'd like to get some rest. It's been a very long day." Austin said, giving a fake but convincing yawn.

Kate hurt herself trying to nod again, a common occurrence not likely to stop before her broken neck would heal. Wincing, she put up her hand and waved to the assembled group, grunting, "Meeting adjourned." through her clenched teeth.

David was right at her side and she was touched by his concern, whispering, "It's alright, dearest. It's nearly painkiller time and I'm feeling that, that's all."

Yuet looked at the time, "No drugs for at least half hour, Kate. Maybe I help you lie down? Or..."

Kate interrupted, "Could David?"

"Of course I can!" David said, making sure to get a confirming nod from Yuet before slowly helping Kate to her feet. He carfully led the red headed woman through the hallway while Yuet trailed behind them. Once they made it to Kate and David's room, David scooped Kate into his arms and put her into the bed, being excessively gentle as he did. After David had tucked Kate snugly into the bed he turned to Yuet. "Is there anything else we can do for her." He asked before turning back to Kate. "Do you need anything? Maybe a drink or something?" David asked in concern.

Austin was the first to leave the dineing area. He made his way towards his and April's bedroom ignoring the weird scenes surrounding him. He made it to the bedroom door and opened it, gasping at the terror at what he saw. Where the bed should of been was a huge pile of bones with a terrible creature sitting on top of them. Austin stared in terror at the creature, not having the slightest idea what it could be in the real world. After a moment his vision changed and he saw Sally sitting on the bed, her head cocked in confusion at Austin's odd behavior. "Fuck, it's just you Sally." He sighed in relief going over to pet his dog.

Kate thanked Yuet but was relieved to be left alone with her boyfriend. She patted the bed beside her, "Your company, David. That's all I could want for...maybe the next couple of weeks to speed by on fast forward, that could be great too. But, your company would suffice for now, my love."

April found Austin in her/their room. He almost appeared meditative, he was so calm and relaxed seeming. "Hey, Sally! Austin, I think she's going to probably have a day job guarding our cattle on the planet...That still takes getting used to, being one eleventh of a huge farm owner, soon." She smiled. "Sally girl, you'll keep all the baddies away from our sheep and goats, huh?" She cooed to the happy dog as she basked in April's affectionate petting and scratching.

"My company it is." David said as he climbed into the bed next to Kate. He smiled and gently kissed her softly. "I'm so happy we're together. I love you Kate." David said softly.

Adrianna swam lazy circles in her lake, chasing fish around in bordem. She heard a splash at the edge of the water and quickly swam to the disturbance to find Natalia tossing rocks into the water to attract the mermaid's attention. "Hey Natalia! How are you? Where's Erik? Does he still need help with his boat?" Adrinna chattered excitedly, happy to have company after several lonely hours in the lake. "There are some rocks in the center of the lake, we could swim out there and hang out. If you want to." The mermaid said hoping Natalia would agree to cure her loneliness.

Austin watched as the strange creature devoured April. He knew it was in his head, but it was still terrifying. After a moment his vision flickered and April was sitting at the edge of the bed petting a happy looking Sally. Austin crawled over to her and laid his head down in her lap. He was almost certain she could hear his pounding heartbeat now that he was so close, but he continued his façade of calm. "April? Will you sing please?" He asked in a whisper.

Aziz breathed softly.

Yuet turned her head to look at him, face to face in the dark room, all alone except for the people on the screen...She tilted her chin up to meet him when his head bent down to let their lips touch.
