My work

OK. I read the story.

What I noticed was you were doing something clever with the 'Yes, ma'am' husband. Some sort of double meaning. Control, obviously.

The wife was having frustrating week and needed release. I liked the way it didn't go whip and call me mistress business. Yep. This kind of thing going down in the neighbourhood is beleavable.

No plot whatsoever which I like sometimes. An easy reading. Smooth and polished.

I admit that I didn't get hot and bothered, but it's not what's it about all the time, I suppose.

I gave pass on poetries as I'm not at all qualified to make any comments. Besides, poets go mad or die younger than story writers (statistically established by some American University research). I'm mad enough without writing or reading poetries.

I'll leave them for the pros.

I read “Welcome Home”. It was nicely and competently written, but I think it’s got to be more than that to turn any heads here. I don't mind that there wasn't any story or any characterization, but it wasn't very graphic and it wasn't very imaginative, and so it wasn't very hot for me. Disappointingly average.

Two people screwed. I mean, it’s not like we haven’t seen that before here.

Edited to add:

I’m having pangs of conscience after posting that rather snippy review. I mean, it’s not that it was a bad story. It was well-written and all. I think I was just in the mood for something wilder and more imaginative.

I’ve got to confess, though, that these kind of loving sex between marrieds almost always leave me cold. I find them always lacking in heat and passion. So I guess that’s just me. I think I'm just in a snippy mood.

No need to apologize, Dr. M., you spoke honestly, and that is all I ask. How can anyone get better if they don't know where they are going wrong?

Thanks to you as well, Vodka.

Hugs,

Kat

Does that make you a group-sex kinda guy, Doc? ;)

Foul moods do not a good reviewer make!

muahahaha. :p :rose:

No, really: I think that in any story there has to be some friction to make a fire. I don't mean that the man and the woman in a sex story have to hate each other, but a story needs drama. When you've got two characters who are in love and who have no problems or conflicts, then where's the interest? What makes their story different from all the other loving couples stories?

There are a lot of theories about what a story is or should be. One of them says that a story recounts an event in which the main character comes out changed in some way. Even in a sex story there can be some change without any elaborate plot: a character learns that they like being in charge, or they like anal sex, or something. But it's got to be an experience worth telling.

But you're right. Bad moods make for grumpy reviewers. Time for bed.

I would certainly agree with you. I was just saying to my hubby that it seems like the highest-voted or prize winning stories on Lit are those which are most emotionally charged...The winner last month, the guy who wrote "Fire"? My god, that was one of the most moving stories I've ever read on Lit (with the exception of the Sandman's winning story last month), I cried three different times, and I can totally see why he won that $100.

So yeah. I don't know.
