My Trip to Amsterdam

Last week I went to Amsterdam. This town is just great! I had fun, even if I didn't had the opportunity to play.
The local SM crowd meets each Tuesday in the Cafe Jeux, so I just went there and received a warm welcome, they all speak at least some english or german, so if you are in the town drop in.

Oooooh and the shops... I'm going to open the next CC statement while seated. I bought some nice cuffs, nipple clamps and a really neat butt plug (6inch long and 3,25inch diameter) the pic of it is attached.
Most of the shops are gay male, but the SM stuff is usable for everyone. And it's no problem to walk in for a woman or a straight man and to drooooooool over the neat rubber and leather stuff.

The guy who traveled with me is 'nilla (and I'm not sexually involved with him), I warned him about the shops I was going to visit and he didn't enter any of them with me. LOL
One time I tricked him a bit, though. There is a gay postcard and video shop (Drake's) on one of the main streets (Damrak). We went past it and wanted to buy some nice post cards of naked man. He didn't realised what kind of a shop it was. <eg> And he was a bit flustered after we came out.

Sooooo if you are in the area, don't miss that town.

You would have liked the shops of Amsterdam, then.
Especially one (RoB) they had a lot of huge plugs and dongs on display: diameters from 2 to 5 inches.

Hello Monika, and welcome back. I spent some time in Amsterdam at the end of the 70's, a couple years of time. At that time it was the world's capital for All Things BDSM and the gay presence wasn't really visible, as it sounds like it is now. I have incredibly vivid memopries of the time i was there, even after all these years. I'd love to go back someday.

Amsterdam is still a marvelous town and well worth a visit, but to see it all you definetely need more than just a day. And even sitting on the Dam square and enjoying a coffee is great, we were so lucky, the weather was fine and sunny.
The gay scene is very active and so is the BDSM scene. The two don't mix very much, though, but there is no fight or something.
I talked to the guy in the Black Tulip Hotel (where I bought the plug) and he told me that there a plans for a similar hotel for the SM crowd. I'll watch that closely for sure

Hotels are expensive in A'dam if you want some of the nicer and centrally located hotels, be prepared for 150€+ We were lucky too and found a cheap hotel, it took only a 10mins ride with the Tram to Central Station, the rooms were functional: a bed, a shower and they were clean. I can give you the address, if you like.

I'm tempted to visit again, but I have to see, if my credit card has recovered in summer

Oh with the Euro that was amazing... no money changing, direct comparing of prizes. This trip really made me appreciating the new money. After that I went to the UK and had to get pounds, baaaah...

Love A'dam

I love Amsterdam. Mary and I went there last year for a long weekend. We partied every day. We couldn't resist the legal weed and mushrooms. Went to a live sex show. Mary got on stage and ate a banana from the lady's twat. We found a dildo in the street! What a thrill. I don't see that kind of stuff here much!

I doubt that the Netherlands will change in that respect. Even if a political party uses the word christian in their name, it doesn't mean that they are bible thumbers. The Netherlands have always been very open in their approach towards sex and drugs.

An interesting info about how things work in the Netherlands: Perhaps you've heard about the murdered polititian in the Netherlands, that guy was openly gay and was interested in BDSM as well. His politcal party, though, is rightwing.
This politcal murder really sent shock waves through the country, it was the first one in about 400 years!

Frouwa_Aph, I did indeed read about this mans murder and was shocked. The Netherlands seems to be isolated from the things that make other countries so violent. I do not know enough about the culture to make guesses as to why but I have taken notice. Thanks for giving more background on the murdered politician.

I read that they were wanting to clean up the drug use, something about inforcing laws on the books already. The laws concernng prostitution and gay marriage were going to be left alone.

I hope to make it there one day. It sounds like a beautiful and fascinating place.

I haven't been to the museum you cited, but I did visit the London Dungeon (a museum). Be aware that such places can be pretty gruesome; it's about actual torture, not bdsm play. LD turned out to be too much for me and I bailed out about halfway through.

Oh I am aware it is based on real torture and is not a BDSM museum, but then so much is transferable in my experience of such things. I have been to similar displays, but I think this will present a much more in depth presentation from all angles.
