My toe surgery ( nasty details inside )

Yep, I needed to go get a ingrown toenail dug out before my toe needed to get amputated.

Well it was all ok til they tried to numb the toe to cut the nail off.

They stuck me twice on the joint on the big toe and rubbed the toe to spread the meds.

Then, the doc grabbed the cutters and grabbed hold of the nail. And boom...the pain was intense. The whole toe wasn't numb.

So he injected me twice again this time on the right side of the toe and tried again. More pain. The toe was STILL not numb totally. The very tip of the toe and the nail was still not numb.

So he injected stuff right under the nail. Whoa-boy! Talk about some burning pain. It was pretty bad but then the whole toe went numb finally.

He cut the nail and pulled it out and the damn thing looked like the blade of a saw with all kinds of jagged edges and points....damn no wonder it was so painful to me.

Anyway, my toe bled a while after that and it's still numb right now. ( The operation was early this morning and it's about 430 PM now)

All in all I say it was an unpleasant but finally my toe wont be oozing pus all over.

Honey...I have had ingrown nails removed about 2 times on each side of both of my big toes...and had part of the root killed to stop the reoccurance of them...AND THEY STILL HAPPEN!!! >.<;
I wonder...did your doctor not check first to make sure you were numb before cutting? I had to have like 4 shots to get alll of the nerves numb....two or so with one shot....the numbing meds DO hurt...but they are worth it....*wonders if she skipped something in your post about that?* o.0

I hope you are feeling better.. I went thru this with my ex.... It looked very painful... But Its ingrown again.... it didnt seem to help by pulling it out. Hope it works out better for you!

Poor guy. Pain is pain.

Take it easy for awhile. And DO WHAT THE DOCTOR TELLS YOU. Follow directions.

If you play it right you should be pampered for awhile, can't walk right?

OW, Tyrael! Sorry to hear of your ordeal (it usually takes "extra" to get me numbed up for things!). As Schoolteacher suggested, follow doctor's orders (and don't hesitate to take the pain pills!). It's definitely going to hurt for a while.
