Good morning sweety ... I was at the Spiedefest this weekend but I'm stopping by to say hi.
I have no idea what a spiedefest is, but I hope you had a good time. good to see you, as always. :rose:

thanks for the other answer, too.... unfortunately, it's still a little too far for what I had in mind, which was to try to put miles on my exercise bike equal to the number I'm going to be flying in november. after being so inactive for so long, tho, doing 20+ miles a day is just a little too much, I think. on the other hand, maybe I can be built up to that by the time november rolls around.

thanks again. :rose:
Hi Moonbeam - I ride my exercise bike 4 times a week and sometimes my bike outside if it isn't too stupid hot or rainy. I can do between 14 and 18 miles in an hour (depending on how interesting All My Children is that day) Twenty miles a day will be a cake walk for you - you don't have to do it all at once - ride a little, rest and ride a little more.......kinda like sex hon - you gotta pace yourself. ;)

It sounds like you are having fun in the pool - I'm glad you got interested in going down there. You just wait, between the bike, the pool and all the masturbating you'll be buying smaller trousers in no time.

Think dirty thoughts - it's very aerobic. ;)

(The focus of the protest is theoretically to encourage people to give up their "dependence on fossil fuel" -- but in practice the messages (which the organizers tell participants to paint directly on their bodies) are more scattered, ranging from "free speech" to presidential politics. )

I dunno where you got the idea that I'm popular.
Well, ummmm maybe I should stop writing your name and phone number on the walls around town then cuz people might get the idea that you're popular from that. ;)

*shaking can of spray paint and trotting off to the train tracks to do a little "Moonbeaming" on the freight cars. *

AND BESIDES aren't guys with guitars always popular and sexy? Just something about the way their fingers move I guess........lucky guitar. :nana:

well... unless the dude (I'm assuming it's a dude) is being sarcastic, I took it as a reference to me being popular at lit. with the exception of a dwindling number of ladies, I just don't think that's the case.

write my name and number all you want... maybe I'll finally get laid.

that's all well and good for you, but I'm just getting started. the most I can manage right now at one time is about 16-18 minutes and 5 miles. my ass hurts too much to do that 4 times a day.

I'll have to just work on gradually increasing my time. they say not to set too big a goal for yourself, and I think shooting for 20 miles a day at this point might be counterproductive.... especially on days I have to work, too. I appreciate the advice, tho. :rose:

I think you're right, moon, it would be counterproductive. But I think 15-20 minutes and 5 miles is a great start ... I wouldn't be at all discouraged with that.

When I started exercising a few years ago, the best I could do to start was jog .1 miles, walk .1 miles, jog .1 miles, etc. ... for just a mile to start with. Small steps get bigger over time.

right. that's what I'm thinking. the biggest key is to stick with it. and then of course I'll have to change my eating habits, too. baby steps.

Exactly. There's no rush, and in fact trying to rush would create problems. Just do what you are doing until it's something you handle fairly well, then stretch your routine a bit. And see your health improve. Probably other things will improve as well.

well... hopefully my attitude will improve, too, although I'm a little down today. even so, I managed 6 miles on the bike and I'm getting ready to hit the pool.

I don't always get the opportunity to do any sort of exercise there, just depends on how crowded it is.... I'm not really sure which is better for my mental health, tho.... a small crowd so I can exercise a little or a full house with more chances to work out my eyeballs. ;)

I didn't start biking until January of this year - couldn't get much past 6 miles an hour myself but after 1 month I was up to 10 and then just pushed myself until I got to about 18 mph. I was using a stationary recumbent bike which was much easier on my ass and back. Now my outdoor bike is just a regular mountain bike so my hiney gets mad at me sometimes. I was trying to get in shape for the ride across Iowa which never happened but I still ride (or try anyway) at least once a day for about 14 miles.

I wasn't meaning that you start off and just kill yourself - everything good takes time.

just dropping in to say hi to the moon

i began reading the pages then realised how many there were! it's gone 2 and i can't do all those, lol. but i did see what you said about your darkside...

now there's a thought.

sure, sure..... you've just seen enough my dark and suicidal ramblings and decided everyone would be better off without me. :nana:

well, hello there, sophie. nice of you to stop by. believe me, when I started this thread I would have been the last one to think it would make it to 80 pages. who'd have thought someone with so little to say could talk so much? ;)

today has been more of an in-between side than a dark side. now, if we're talking dork side, I'm afraid that's always there.

have a good day when you wake up there on the other side of the pond.

That would be an incorrect assumption.
Hey, I'm trying to help you get in shape for another woman - you've got to hang around long enough to dish the dirt when you get back from CA. Details, man, we want details. Besides I'm still thinkin' no matter what - you look mighty fine in your "uncle marty swim trunks" (or better yet - your swim trunks in a pile around your ankles).

I'm sure not expecting anything to happen in CA. I just wanna be as fit as I can get before then so that I'll actually feel like getting out and doing some stuff and seeing some things. I've been to gatlinburg, tennessee twice, but I was so fucking fat I never even got out of the hotel. I'd love to go back someday and walk around in the mountains, and I don't want to have the same kind of regrets from CA if I get to go.

as for what I look like out of my trunks, I'm sure I look much better in your imagination.

patting myself on the back....

I wish I had kept track of when I actually started, but I've been on my exercise bike every day for the last 10-14 days. I can narrow it down to july 29 or a few days before that. I'm up to 6 miles in approximately 20 minutes.... after that, my ass hurts too bad to keep going.

speed is anywhere from 15.5 to about 18 mph, for SL69. I don't keep that close an eye on it, cuz I try to just close my eyes and pedal and dig on the tunes I'm listening to, but after the 4th or 5th song I open them to check out where I'm at mile-wise and I'm usually hitting about 18mph.

of course, I was off work for a lot of those days. the trick will be to keep it up after I get back to work.

might not seem like a big deal to most people, but it is to me.

It IS a big deal. I just bought a treadmill and I know how hard it is to be motivated. Also you have had surgery recently ... I applaud you Moony. :)

too bad we can't train together... you could walk or run on your treadmill and I could set my bike up behind it and chase you. ;)

and kudos to you for your purchase.... if there's any way I can help out motivation-wise, let me know.

and, also... thank you for the pat on the back.

YOU ARE DOING GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe invest in a larger seat for your bike - it helps cut down on the "ass crack blues". ;)

I know I always put on headphones and cranked the music when I was working out at the gym - here at home I just turn it up and vibrate the windows.

It is kinda helpful and motivating to keep a log of your miles and speeds so you get an idea of your progression.

I'm so proud of you Moonbeam.
