I was at work today and I got to thinking about something that I thought would make for a fairly entertaining post. well, if there's anyone that still reads this thread, that is.... but anyway.... now that I'm home from work and sitting in front of the computer, I have no idea what it is that I wanted to say.

I work in a nursing home, part of the kitchen staff. usually I'm stuck in the kitchen and don't have much direct contact with the residents.... which is fine by me. every once in awhile, tho, I have to serve on our cafeteria line, which I pretty much hate. I don't really have a voice that carries very well so the residents have a hard time hearing me, and I can't hear them either. too much loud rock and rolll, I guess....

I must fake it pretty well, because last week one of the residents told me it looks like I really enjoy feeding people. kind of took me by surprise, but I just told her it must be because I like to eat so much.

I still can't get over it..... some of them wouldn't try it even after I explained what it was. then there was one lady who said, "oh, I'll have a corn dog! wow.... talk about mixed feelings. I was happy to see that you posted, but disappointed by your news. I was happy to read I was one of your favorite people but.... again.... disappointed by your news. still almost 2 weeks left, tho, so I hope we get to chat a bit.

Firstly why they added me in the first place....

I can definitely relate to this, DB. I've had those feelings for a long time, way before I even joined lit - people on my buddy list that don't speak to me unless I say something first. I've even brought it up on occasion.... "why don't you ever say hi?"

"oh, I don't know.... I just thought you might be busy."

if you're the person that always has to make contact first, it definitely makes you feel like they don't really want to talk to you no matter how much they say they like you or that you matter to them. then if you happen to make some kind of comment about people ignoring you, they get all defensive or act hurt.

at least on lit I can somewhat understand it. in my time here there are certain ladies I've become somewhat captivated by for different reasons.... their beauty, or certain things they've said to me, or just things they've posted in general. you try to strike up a little friendship, or make a connection.... but you realize pretty quickly that to them you're just one of the thousands of guys that flirt with them.

the sad part is it's not just related to internet people... there are people that have supposedly been my "friends" for years and if I don't make the effort to keep in touch with them, they damn sure don't make any contact with me. I finally quit bothering with most of them. sure doesn't seem to matter to them.

I guess that makes my DLS for today: I often feel like I could die tomorrow and two weeks from now no one would even remember I existed except my family.

sometimes I like to bump this thread and maybe generate some conversation from my.... ummmm.... "fans". is that the right word? who knows... I don't think anyone ever comes here anymore anyway.

but I digress....

I bump the thread and try to get some chatter started by reposting something I've posted in another thread. this is from a thread about dreams...

I have quite a few strange dreams, but most of them fade as soon as I wake up. one thing I've always been curious about is that in a lot of my dreams I'm jogging. that's something I never do in real life.... I'm old, way out of shape and can only run a few steps before I get out of breath or my knees feel like they're going to explode. in my dreams I can jog for miles, tho....

Why must you jog? Walking is just as good for you and a lot less strenuous on joints and such. I can walk for hours (heck two weeks ago I walked for 3.5 hours pushing a stroller and managed 8km with energy to spare) but jogging just wipes me right out.

I've always been that way though. I could do a 100m sprint and place but try and get me in anything longer than 200m and I'd be done.

do you think it may have something to do with endurance, or perhaps you just enjoy being outdoors, or perhaps you WANT to enjoy being outdoors... when it's getting cold out is a pretty crappy time to start going outside but there is no reason not to.

My friend who has a heart condition and was slightly overweight just got a puppy and she has been taking him out for a couple walks a day, she has been telling me that even those couple of 20 minute walks each day is building up her endurance enormously and helping her with the weight loss she wanted.

I'm rambling, but I'm also rambling because this will likely be the last, or close to the last time I get to stop by your thread as tomorrow is d-day here.

I wanted to tell you that I am looking forward to an email from you in the (near??) future and that I have checked out the website link you have in your profile (actually quite a while ago I checked it out) and am hoping the best for you and would love to hear more about you striving to be healthy.. actually I'd love to hear that you are striving to be HAPPY instead of the depressed man I first talked to, not that I can say if that has changed yet or not but I certainly hopw that it will.

Bad things happen to everyone, maybe it's just me being a bad person that make sit so easy for me to get over the bad things that have happened to me but those bad things don't need to take down the rest of the time when good things could be happening.

have you ever noticed how even mundane words or phrases can sound cool in another language?

I've noticed that here in america more and more things are starting to be printed in spanish as well as english. we have these signs we use at work that say "piso mojado". now, I know that that means because I see the english version right above it, but if not.... what would you think it meant?

I can see piso mojado being an insult.... "I've had enough of your bullshit, piso mojado." (you little motherfucker.) how did I arrive at that translation? I'm not really sure... I think that piso reminds me of "little" because I remember that pica is a small typeface. mojado just reminds me of "mofo". piso mojado - little motherfucker.

it means wet floor. caution - wet floor. cuidado - piso mojado.
